Most white Americans have been comfortable living in an oppressive colonial apartheid state throughout this country's existence, as long as they didn't suffer any trouble for it, and have consistently preferred to blame Black and indigenous people for any "unrest," personified in the racist dog whistle, "urban crime."

Indeed, a majority of white Americans would rather make things worse for everyone -- even themselves -- rather than seriously address this inequality.
