Good morning. Instead of foliage or another GM picture here’s a reminder.

It’s Election Day in many places in the US. VOTE today like your life depends on it. It does.

I will say as I always do, we don't vote to elect saviors.

We vote to elect targets, targets we can organize and win pressure campaigns against.

(And to keep the fash away from levers of power.)

Go vote in some targets today!

This is what happens when a Republican even flirts with reality and paying attention to science...

The Wyoming Republican Party Central Committee passed a “no confidence” vote against Gov. Mark Gordon for saying #climate change is real and something should be done about it.

@w7voa Remember Pompeo gutted the State Department and filled it with Trumpers. Read these reports with a scalpel and cut out the MAGA crap.

Never forget that many Americans would still be alive today if Trump had been legally required to show his tax returns before the 2016 election.

I think the thing that angers me the MOST about all of the various Republican voter suppression efforts isn't even that "my side will lose", it's that they're literally stripping away a fundamental human right that citizens of a country should be allowed to have a say in how they are governed.

Literally.

From the UN Declaration of Human Rights:

Article 21

Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives.

Everyone has the right of equal access to public service in his country.

The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government; this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections which shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures.

un.org/en/about-us/universal-d

When you disenfranchise people, you're LITERALLY depriving them of one of their human rights. You're saying "your opinion is worthless". "Because you didn't fill out paperwork that we made intentionally confusing in the proper way and time and provide an ID, we're going deny your right to have a say in how you're governed."

It's cruelty simply for the sake of power. I might VEHEMENTLY disagree with the politics of people on the far right, but I still want their franchise respected and counted accurately.

therapist recommended trying CBT, now I still have anxiety /and/ my balls hurt

I wish no injury on anyone but it would beyond funny if Aaron got healthy enough to play again and 4 snaps in he tears his other heel

Ezekiel 23:20

…and Moms for Liberty reported a librarian to the local sheriff because a student checked out a book they think was pornographic?!

If I'm going to work a 16-hour day at the polls tomorrow I need you to get out and vote (if you haven't already). Don't let the extremists take over your local leadership positions.

My Bald Eagle friend here has something to say to my fellow Americans: GO VOTE!

Normally I try to keep my politics content confined to my other accounts, but tomorrow (11/7) is Election Day across much of the US. While it may be considered an "off" year in many places, there are likely hugely important things on your ballot.
- Here in Virginia the entire legislature is up for grabs, which will determine whether the right-wing governor gets to ban abortion, trash our educational system, and hurt trans people.
- In Ohio, there's a constitutional amendment on the ballot that will protect the fundamental right to abortion.
- In Pennsylvania, there's a state supreme court race which will be important for voting rights (as in: do you have any?).
- In NJ, the entire legislature is also up for grabs
- In many places, school boards and mayors, etc. are up for election. The school board races are a particular target of the far right at the moment, so defending them is paramount.

If you're not sure what's on your ballot or you're unsure if you're registered, you can check https://whenweallvote.org/ or https://www.vote.org/

Do you swear to tell the whole truth?

I do. Believe me, the statement I presented to the bank was the best bank statement ever presented to any bank. It was a winning bank statement. Everyone says that. They come to me and say, 'Sir, how do you write the best bank statements,' and I say, 'I only hire the best lawyers.' This whole trial is very unfair because everyone Hates Trump.

@GottaLaff
Thanks for doing this!
What happens INSIDE the court is so important. I don't expect fireworks since historically, in depositions, Trump is calm & polite (see this Seth Meyers clip)
#Trump knows there WILL be consequences for his fraud. Remember, his "charity" was shut down for fraud.

Trump's strategy is to win OUTSIDE THE COURTROOM.
The media's prepared to amplify his lies outside the court.
So we AMPLIFY his losing case INSIDE the courtroom here on #Mastodon.

This is definitely completely normal and absolutely in no way creepy as fuck

Please understand that fascism never "creeps in." It is out in the open, blaring, guns blazing, using neon signs. Yet, too many people still do not care and tell you to stop overreacting, find comfort in complacency because they'll be fine, or welcome fascism with open arms because they support it.

If you’re upset about high gas prices, remember 3 things:

1—Exxon posted $9.1B in earnings for Q3 of 2023
2—US Congress subsidizes $10B+ annually for Exxon & fossil fuel mega corps
3—My opponent for US Congress takes campaign contributions from Exxon😳

Help me vote him out.

@violetmadder @bruce @GottaLaff old enough to recall Ralph Nader talk just like you. The result of that was a Texas oilman over the author of An Inconvenient Truth, which delayed climate measures by decade. Nader just said “an ecological disaster would be very good for the Green Party”. Now you compare Nazis with cops. 🤦‍♀️
