Who's your favorite Star Wars character?

Sen Whitehouse is a hero.

You just watched every permutation of Republican obstruction: first, invoking the 2-hour rule; second, trying to deny a quorum; third, interrupting the vote with points of order; fourth, a general walk-out.

It shows how *desperately* Republicans want to prevent Americans from seeing what’s been going on between the right-wing billionaires and the gift-taking justices. It has to be really bad to trigger that barrage of procedural weapons.

The disconnect from reality exhibited by big business is breathtaking - ultimately that will be a literal statement.

It costs too much to go green, apparently.
No mention that it will cost everything if we don't, right now.

Omg, hahahaha!! 🤦🏻‍♀️From yesterday, but just saw it:

Via The Intellectualist (who shared the vid clip):

Elon #Musk: “The only reason I am here, Jonathan, is because you are a friend.”

Andrew Ross Sorkin (NYT): “I am Andrew.”

Where a government continually treats a certain group/groups as less worthy as humans, they should not control the food of that group, the houses available for that group, the security of that group. The US government and state/local governments within the country treat Black people and Indigenous people as not worthy of humane treatment; how can we trust them to respect our right to vote or even our right to life?

On Top of Everything Else, Henry Kissinger Prevented Peace in the Middle East https://theintercept.com/2023/11/30/henry-kissinger-israel-egypt-soviet-union/

The scum just keeps getting scummier.

A former server at #Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster alleges she was sexually harassed and coerced into sex by a supervisor, then tricked into signing an illegal non-disclosure agreement by Trump's lawyer, Alina #Habba

Trump is not named as a defendant in the suit.

If we’d speak more ill of the dead, maybe it would remind the living not to be assholes.

This is where America is headed

Just look at the Russian money flowing into elections.
Look at the unmitigated bot farms
Look at the indictments
Read the Mueller Report.

If you choose not to vote because a mainstream politician didn't give you 100% of your wish list?

It won't matter if you have a pride flag or trans flag or hashtag on your profile...

You're complicit.

When I heard the news about Kissinger, I remembered what Tom Lehrer (who stopped touring about the same time this happened, and is still alive) said about his legacy.

Lehrer put all his songs in the public domain. Legend.

Updating an old joke:

You can make friends anywhere in the world with the phrase, "Wasn't it horrible what Henry Kissinger did here?"

It especially works in Washington D.C.

@talia_christine There seems to be a contingent of people out there who believe that "democracy" means that they'll have a viable candidate in every election who 100% agrees with them on every issue.

@talia_christine
And if you don't understand what Fascism leads to just google "pictures from german concentration camps". Here I will help: https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/gallery/concentration-camps-1942-45-photographs

@cynthiarose @Jackiemauro @talia_christine I'd like to go back to an alternate universe where President Carter won a 2nd term, we'd have avoided the whole Christian Right

@cynthiarose @talia_christine sometimes I think about how much I wish I lived in the alternate universe where gore became president

@talia_christine look, on the one hand, Biden canceled (some) student debt, pulled through an infrastructure bill, got other stuff done.

On the other, the guy who says people who don't vote for him are vermin. It's tough.
