uspol, media bias

Nominee: The democrat senators are playing politics by how you've handled the accuser.

Dems/MSNBC: How dare you say the accuser is a liar! How DARE you!

Nominee: I'm angry that I'm being accused of being a rapist.

Dems/Primary Media: How dare you be angry. You should be happy about this. We are happy about this - why aren't you? Not qualified.

uspol, trauma, media bias

CNN Panel just said that GOP could only believe the accuser is lying or insane.

That's not how trauma works; that's not how memory works. Trauma is complex; memories from three and a half decades ago are complex.

Two things can be true: someone can have experienced trauma AND not have accurate memories of it 36 years later.

That doesn't make someone a liar or insane.

In seeking to attack the the other party the democrats and primary media (but I repeat myself) have now labeled everyone with difficult traumatic memories insane. Thanks. That's what we needed.

Uspol, nominee circus, media bias

Super helpful to flip through news channels, seeing each network has a panel with 100% agreement across the panel, each aligned with the network bias.

Can NBC News use another term besides "woman prosecutor"

That kinda implies that by default, prosecutors are supposed to be men. She's the "outside special counsel"

WHOA. A Mastodon bot @congressedits just caught someone inside the US Congress editing Senator Graham's wikipedia page to insert the senator's home address.

uspol

SO excited for the political circus tomorrow and the huge amount of people who will change their minds. 😂

uspol, media bias

Shocked - just saw Cuomo on CNN point out to a Democrat legislator that she'd already made up her mind, regardless of the circus tomorrow. Least biased 30 seconds I've ever seen from him.

I hardly ever watch news, but from what I've seen to date he's been a joke - a self-denying living breathing democrat talking point.

He left that 30 seconds of valid interviewing and went back to being a single-party talking point. But it was shocking to see that 30 seconds.

diversity (in tech)

Heard a speaker at yesterday say that we need to focus on diversity of thought - so hire people who look different.

I disagree with the underlying presumption that people who look the same must think the same. Isn't that to say: What you amount to, and what you think, are determined by your race/gender/appearance, etc.?

uspol, media bias

Reps: "We don't want political grandstanding, we'll just have one expert asking questions, and not a politician"

Media/Dems: "How DARE you! How dare you peddle out a GIRL to question our brave woman"

uspol, media bias

GOP is going to "peddle in a girl because that's more sensitive".

How dismissive of a woman who seems to be qualified expert.

If the us-left brings forth a female, it's brave, it's groundbreaking. If the us-right brings forth a female, they're "peddling in a girl".

uspol msnbc

"Well, this isn't legal due process, but there is or should be moral due process" where we believe the accuser and destroy the accused without due process of law because it's politically expedient.

Isn't that the definition of a lynching?

Lynching: "To execute without due process of law"

What Media Bias?

Coverage of accusations against supreme court nominee - 100% counting who could change their vote AGAINST him; 0% who could change vote FOR him. 100% rooting for one partisan side.

it's over

Looks like the clown car show is over. Kavanaugh vote locked in for Monday morning 10AM EST

Heard an interview today about how outrage can be addictive and a trap, stops us from being able to #reachacross... CW for length...

Andrew Klavan interviewed Glen Beck, of all people. I hadn't heard Beck in a few years. I think he has a new book he was plugging about outrage and how it can be both addictive and counter productive. His estimate was that maybe 15% of each end of the spectrum may just want society to be torn down, and don't want to productively engage. While sad, that leaves 70% who should focus on reaching across and understanding each other. I think his idea is that a much smaller percent than 70 is needed to be transformational, that we should be focused on reaching across to each other in constructive dialog and not get engaged in the outrage trap.

I don't know how much I agree or disagree with Beck on issues, but this is something I can get on board with. Glad has this mindset. It could have a wide ranging impact.

Stalin? Really?

Stalin is the *only* communist leader you could think of? A dictator that was responsible for the deaths of millions.

Literally no one else did state communism.
