@nemobis @quinta That's because they are too much influenced by common-law perspective on "public domain" (and by [US propaganda on the topic](https://sci-hub.st/10.1126/science.162.3859.1243) sold as "Science").

Any unprotected good is not in the public domain, but under the rules of the strongest/smartest bully.

@quinta @nemobis Put this way, I'd argue that the Italian law is, in fact, superior to the EU law in this case.

A good belongs to #Commons only when rules exists that protect it from careless private exploitation.

And while for intellectual artifact like software and "digital" contents this should means that when something enter the public domain, its use and derivation should be bound to share-alike rules, it sounds reasonable that for physical good like artistic masterpieces, this means that private profit drawn from a reproduction should contribute to the preservation of the original artwork.

I know that @nemobis won't agree though... 😃

People have asked about setting up our code before and I know for a time some people did run forks of QOTO,. I dont recall the instances or even they are still up though. That said I do know of many instances that have taken code from QOTO.

As for our choice to let our users decide federation rather than the main admin, I dont disagree it was a gamble and has caused some to throw shade at us. However as I explained it came as adirect response and the at the request of our LGBTQ community. They made a clear argument why that choice was neccesary for their safety, and we decided their safety was the priority over any effect on public opinion. So while you arent wrong about your accessment of that choice I would argue it was still the correct choice.

What is concerning is Gargron basically thought that decision, one in which our LGBTQ communities safety was prioritized over popular opinion, is one he felt punishing exclusively due to popular opinion (he was aware of our stance for years and approved of it right until people started to break out the cancel culture nonsense).

È molto che non scambio quattro chiacchere con @freemo, ma in passato sia quando siamo stati d'accordo su un tema, sia quando siamo stati in totale disaccordo, è sempre stato arricchente, fornendomi una prospettiva diversa dalla mia.

Ricordiamo il primo comma dell'articolo 33 della costituzione sulla libertà dell'insegnamento? Questo episodio -per l'uso di chi trattava, sotto altre maggioranze, come pretestuosa l'invocazione dell'articolo - è parte di un processo di assoggettamento burocratico che non comincia con Valditara.
Che cosa deve fare la scuola? Addestrare nel senso della Ausbildung o formare nel senso della Bildung? Se la scuola è un'agenzia di addestramento e non di formazione, non può aver titolo a parlare di politica.
È giusto protestare ora, come era giusto farlo prima.
