@tofugolem @RadicalWoman111 @antonioserrata

Political strategist @RachelBitecofer over on #birdsite — haven’t seen her on Mastodon yet — believes the #MAGA #GOP should be mercilessly mocked for all their fascist-wannabe BS agitprop. Combining the mocking with stating truth. Sort of sounds like the direct opposite of GOP’s lies and incitement to division. Hakeem Jeffries just might be very adept at this.

@theremina On the bright side… kitty, cat pictures! Lots and lots of kitty cat pictures!

It's the train wreck you are forced to watch. The is war crime adjacent. If we can't put these egomaniacs in prison, can we at least tax them the fuck out of existence?

This guy is a monster. Needs to be taxed out of existence.

Maria Ressa is a feisty gem. She has a lot to say and is unflinching about social media.

@Dahlialith Isn’t the Alito drivel kinda workplace harassment? That is some creepy stuff.

I've been thinking a lot about Twitter and failure lately. And the absurdist Gladiator spectacle that we're all watching. I decided to turn it into a blog post: zephoria.medium.com/what-if-fa

@RepDonBeyer
…this bold move will be followed up with cookies, milk, and a brief nap. Once sleepytime is over, they’ll have a joint meeting with house and senate republicans to compete in a spelling contest reviewing all of the big words they learned that day. The smart money is on Ted Cruz, but if Herschel Walker wins in Georgia, all bets are off. After that? Recess! Yaaaaay! We can get to the easy stuff after lunch! Yaaay!

@brianbeutler i’ve always thought that about Presbyterians. I mean, who the fuck came up with that name for a religion?

@scottjshapiro I strongly oppose Trump’s suggestion to eat the Constitution but will vote for him if he leaves off the ketchup.

@rachelshelden @jbf1755 I’m beginning to fear that filing an amicus brief with the SCOTUS is like trying to convince your red state uncle to get vaccinated.

@ryanschultz

Facebook and Twitter boil down to really just being server farms with billboards. Gotta have infrastructure or they just don't operate. The is incredible, but the beast will need to be fed, so to speak. The interface that Facebook or Twitter provide is really not much more than what Mastodon has, but they host the servers and they (ehem) do content moderation; what all of us want and expect. My prediction is that we will have a two-tiered, federated model where you can choose to pay to host or be hosted on a federated server, or you can join an ad driven server with your federated based avatar free of charge.

For #AcademicToots #AcademicMastodon I’m wondering if universities established dot edu masto instances that we adopted, this could supplant paid #BlueCheck #BlueTick verifications as a de facto employer verification in the #Fediverse, at least for our sector.
