@Drosmel Don't be tempted - they are not for that and easy to bend by hitting things. Then they are a bugger to use.😜

Less competition and more cooperation needed. Fewer 'winners' which create 'losers'

Brexit ‘Permanently Damaged’ UK Economy, says former Bank of England policy maker.

“If we hadn’t had Brexit, we probably wouldn’t be talking about an austerity budget this week. The need for tax rises, spending cuts wouldn’t be there.”

Chris Bryant - I have a real sense of anger when people say mistakes have been made.. it's a weasel term.. the Tories should apologise & say Britain is broke... £37b was wasted on test & trace.. £9b wasted on PPE that couldn't be used & £4b on PPE that ended up being burnt..

@sciencebase It's a story about seeing the lot in a year, the challenge being their locality. Very honest.

@sciencebase I always find it amazing how a species sticks to a tight location or even latitude. There are few of these types here in Lincs.

@sciencebase@mastodon.socialI've seen twitchers who could reach the Pole with what they get out of the car at a nature reserve.

So far, 27 years of COP meetings have been a complete failure; you can't argue with physics. Anyone saying otherwise has fossil fuels or books to sell. #EmergencyMode

@sciencebase You've spoiled it for those that like having the 'gear' more than taking pictures!

Agreed. The back story is long and crazy. But in short the LGBTQ and others in the community at the time were being mass banned simply for following bad actors, even when they didnt boost, promote, or in any way show sympathetic leaning towards those bad actors.

The reason they were following them was to watch their account for violent threats and then disseminate that throughout their community for safety. But many instance admins didnt care and blocked/banned anyway.

As a result the LGBTQ community in masse migrated here for their safety.

We added a feature for them called subscribe. It lets you follow a person without them knowing you are following them. BUT it only lets you access the posts that person gives you permission to view (basically public posts, you cant see follower-only posts on a subscription). We did this so members of our community could follow these bad actors without alerting them and putting themselves at risk of violence or retaliation.

People again twisted this feature into being privacy violating despite the fact that it honors the privacy rules set by the poster.

Needless to say a lot of people were very mad that their blocking and banning abuses were coming back to bite them in the ass and ultimately distorted and lied the truth about QOTO and our feature to try to make it sound like something evil when it wasnt... those lies persist to this day.

It is annoys me to hear people like @PJTheEconomist from the @TheIFS saying there are big financial constraints on government right now when the only constraints are people not being allowed to work to their full potential and the planet itself. He gets economics so wrong.

When Churchill was asked to cut funding to the arts in order to support the war effort in World War II, he responded “Then what would we be fighting for?” an apocryphal quote but when Ukrainian forces retook Kherson the people and the soldiers gathered together to sing and dance in celebration.
These images of Banksy's work also reflect how important culture is not just to Ukraine but to the civilised world. It's our turn to protect it from the marauders at the gate.

The economy is shrinking because of falls in consumer spending. Soon it will be because of increasing interest rates. Straight after that it will be because of austerity and tax increases. This is the first time we will have ever had a deliberate government manufactured recession

Day-by-day it is becoming clearer what attributes Sunak most looks for in his senior ministerial team

RT @AngelaRayner@twitter.com

These deeply troubling accusations of bullying raise yet more questions about Rishi Sunak’s judgement. They must be investigated urgently & independently.

The Prime Minister must come clean on what he knew about them when he reappointed Dominic Raab. 👇🏻

@Drosmel The steel sector has done this approach and it's worked well. There is even some competitive content between groups to win at the games.
