@sciencebase Yes, saw one today. Didn't get a pic. Top tip for getting good photos - on the socket where you plug in your battery charger, you will notice a switch. Press it to turn it on.

@sciencebase why not follow horses and call them a star even if they're obviously not?
@sciencebase Definitely not a square point, that one!
@sciencebase I'll have a go. I want to see a Chimney Sweeper and I gather that some are flying around here.

This is becoming a bigger litigation mess every day.
But I cannot emphasise enough that the accumulating problems with the Cabinet Office's approach to this will not be coming from the government lawyers.
Government lawyers are good with inquiries: they do them a lot.
Somebody far more senior - official or minister - is making a hash of this.
@freemo @LouisIngenthron Anything which sticks will cause steel to corrode because it limits the oxygen flow to the region and creates an electrolytic circuit with the clean parts. It's the clean parts which will corrode, faster if there are a lot of dirty areas. Same reason that paint chips on your car rust very quickly.

You never know what you're going to get when you crack open a geode-like rock called an agate, but a new specimen is even more surprising than usual: It looks just like #cookiemonster

@TatianaIlyina It is very difficult. There are still far to many politicians who prefer not to face up to reality, or even to try and understand it. I think their education is the most pressing need.

What strikes me still a lot when communicating the severity of #climatechange with concerned non-specialists is that for most the greatest fear is to not being able to pursue their recreational activities due to say a #heatwave or lack of snow and not the drying rivers, failing crops, #biodiversityloss.
How do we change this deeply nudged mindset of ours? We can’t exploit natural resources endlessly!
#ClimateDiary
@effinbirds Toucan play at that fucking game, chum.
@sciencebase I should know better, but I was disappointed that the caterpillar wasn't bright red.
@sciencebase I see that we might have seen the
peppery ones as well, and confused with Common Heath all over the heather nearby. There was always one in the Bilberry bag.
@sciencebase I guess they like it around there. Skipton is nearly in Lancashire, but I didn't say that!
@sciencebase We used to see the little black ones when I was little, always wondered what they were. Near Skipton all the buildings were "black from t' stack".
@sciencebase There's one at Far Ings very near Humber Bridge too. Too far off for my camera.

How the Covid Inquiry may have set an elegant spring-trap for the Cabinet Office
@sciencebase Maybe it's already shagged out.

As we approach June, I’m very conscious that so many people will go straight for their lawnmower after a #NoMowMay. So much #wildlife will lose their homes in the process. PLEASE spread the message of a #NoMowSummer and let’s have more of this!👇😍🐝🐞🦋🪲🦇 🌱 #WildlifeGarden
