I'd like to donate my corpse to science, when time comes, but on the other hand I'd hate to see the research done on me to be copyrighted by big journals and to be a part in this closed-source science progression.

I wonder if I can donate my body to science with a Creative Common license...

Kavanaugh

@freemo @neverfadingwood I can understand that.

I feel like Brett isn't being honest, is the very core of it. But, I also think something sketchy is going on over Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh and it calls into question the entire thing.

Kavanaugh

@freemo @neverfadingwood I watched (or listened) to the Brett Kavanaugh part of the hearing, so my opinions right now are based only on his testimony.

I think he was understandably angry. If someone said I was a sexual criminal, or I sexually assaulted them and I hadn't I'd be super pissed.

Did he? Didn't he? I don't know. I'd probably react with the same anger either way.

It does sound like something sketchy is going on here and I'm not sure who to trust anymore.

That being said, I'm not sure that Judge Kavanaugh is appropriate for the supreme court. I can't trust him after all this. Be it character assassination, true fact, or some kind of political ball game. it has worked.

@freemo @absolutus Yeah, maybe! I don't know for sure. It's one of those unknowable things, which sort of makes it very interesting to me.

But still, I wonder, let's say I never developed Bipolar disorder? A genetic thing- I just got lucky there. It be impossible to deny that my life would be a very different thing if I didn't have this disease- or what if I had an even worse version?

I'm not sure, of course, it is the unknowable- but I think I would be very different.

@freemo @absolutus More seriously, though, it's one of those fragility of consciousness things. I am who I am because of those forming factors that exist genetically and historically.

If even a single major event changed in my life, I wouldn't be me anymore. I'd be like Alt-Universe me, and it's an interesting, albeit self-centered, thought experiment for me.

@absolutus I used to think I was perfect, but then I got better.

I've been thinking a lot on sentience, and specifically my personal sense of self. It's honestly a miracle that all these disparate elements somehow came together to make me.

It makes it hard not to ask myself 'What If?' questions.

On Today's I'd like to feature someone who should be pretty well known- The late, great Mister Tom Petty (And his Heartbreakers)

Find the album 'The Last DJ'. It is fantastic. It feels like Tom Petty giving a huge middle finger to what his industry became in his time in music.

In short, I love Tom Petty and I want nothing more than to share him with my friends on and !
