@Ophillous Get some pretty flowers, Bees. I have it on good authority that bees like flowers.
In seriousness, though, If you need to chat make sure to talk to someone. Sometimes that depression sneaks up on you, unfortunately.
@freemo Some disassembly required.
@rnitsch There is a very specific, personal reason I call black Americans, specifically, my sibling when it comes to fighting inequity in society.
The Rabbi who shaped a great deal of my ethics was a man who was very serious about doing the right thing, regardless of what other people thought. He was a man who marched with, and went to prison with MLK Jr.
The purpose of my post was to remind people that Doctor King recognized the parallels of the struggle of the black American with the historical struggle of the Jewish person. I can't help but see the same, even today.
I can not deny that immigrant groups are very much a part of overt antisemitic incidents- but the old Antisemitism that is Europe's long held badge of shame remains, albeit in a different form.
To deny that antisemitism isn't part of traditional European culture is questionable, at best, and at worse historically inaccurate.
But, that's why I've said things are getting better, but they're not where they need to be.
I have no doubt that some muslim immigrants are antisemitic, of course. And certainly it is a large issue with the influx of a people who do not want to culturally assimilate as one might expect or desire.
re: PV is growing
@Are0h Congrats. I'm glad to see things are growing and moving forward for you.
Growing up the way I did, it was just kind of expected to put your feelings aside and push forward. That's just what you did in conservative and very religious household.
So for a long time I didn't put much stock in the idea of self affirmations because it just felt silly.
It wasn't until I started figuring out who I was outside of that context to realize how valuable affirmations are.
It is a wonderful practice to remind yourself you matter and you are capable.
Because you do and are.

@_Crescensia_ @johnrandom@cryptids.online Such floof! So sweet!
@freemo Allow me to restate. I have healthcare that won't be denied to me if I'm out of a job, or unable to work and it'll be at the same level as almost anyone else.
@freemo I am very frank and open about my disease. I could have been born with MS, or another physical disorder just as crippling. The same genetic soup all screwed up in a wholly different way.
Luckily, I've moved to a country where I don't need to pay anything for my health care- including mental health.
@freemo Yes. Bipolar type 2 here, although more likely due to genetics than abuse/neglect.
There is a huge stigma in talking about mental health issues and it's a problem. People need to recognize mental health diseases as exactly that- diseases.
