recent catholic church quote
@root I'm not personally religious in any form, but religion can be a source of great comfort and strength for some people.
The idea that people in a particular religion would harm others in that way makes me irrationally angry.
It's like how bullying fills me with rage- only it's much worse here. This is *the church* and iirc the Catholic Church is fairly dogmatic.
So, a Catholic Trans person who truly believes their faith, will also truly believe this load of bullshit and it will cause them harm and I am *not* okay with that.
The idea of some kid trying to come to terms with their identity, and being told by this thing that they truly believe that they're ugly and wrong?
Yeah, I'd feel justified slapping the pope. I'd back hand it, real bitch slap style, too.

@root I'm not going to pretend I know all about Trans issues, because I don't. A lot of it is confusing to me.
But, if you folks are super-villains you need to like widen your scope. Seriously. Steal a nuke, at least. Hold a population hostage. Monologue more.
In seriousness, though, that's pretty bullshit. People are people in my world view. And the gender identity of one person- even if I don't personally understand it- isn't my business at the end of the day. People got a right to feel comfortable and safe in their own skin as long as that identity isn't about causing harm to themselves or anyone else.
At the end of the day, I'm a pretty simple dude and there's a lot of things that I don't understand. I do have a personal meaning in life, though. Find Beauty.
Trans people are just as beautiful as any other people.
That statement is ugly and cruel. There are undoubtedly Religious Trans people who will take that statement to heart and it will cause them harm and they don't have that right. That is totally fucked, and I will slap the pope for supporting it.
@bryceyoungquist @Dayglochainsaw that's a compelling argument, yeah.
@root that's why I prefer Alton Brown, because he likes cooking and is happy. ;p
@root I've been taught by reality tv that this kind of cooking that makes you happy is wrong and evil like masturbation for catholics in the 1600s.
@root but who will yell at you in the kitchen now? Toast? She's not angry enough like that!
@root you should add mozzarella and basil. Those pair well with chocolate. I'm pretty sure that's what Mr. Angry Chef Gordon Ramsay says.
@root yeah, I mean, I love that she's all purrs when I pick her up, but I'm worried she's stressing out during the day or something and there isn't much I can do to find out if that's the case.
@root I'm just worried that Birdy has some kind of separation anxiety. She meows so much when I come home and forces her way into the hall so I can pick her up.
@root True. Very true. I want nothing more than to bring my cat to work every day.
I miss her when I'm away from home. :(

@root my cat is also very spoiled. She hates leaving the house, too.
However, that is just avoiding the *FACT* that I have successfully answered your question, lady!
@root go home and pet Toast, obviously.
