@sara Yeah, but nerds are cool.
@hashtaggrammar @freemo @neverfadingwood In this case I believe it was colorful, emotional language vs an actual support for Eugenics.
Been working on integrating my earlier ncurses-telnet integration into my MUD game. Its been a huge pain in the ass trying to fix various issues including telnet codes, unicode rendering, window refreshing. But seems I have everything but the telnet code sorted out. Here is a little peek at the basic setup (more virtual windows will be added soon). Hopefully I'll have a bug free version to demo in a few days.
@freemo I actually like the ritual of it all. I roll my cigarette. I light it up. I sit or stand and just enjoy it. I smoke, yes, partially because I'm addicted to nicotine- but I actually really enjoy the ritual of it all.
@freemo Taxes haven't stopped me from smoking. Or working.
Yo, #QOTO ! What's going on my friends? I hope you're all having fine days so far.
So, a #RandomQuestion for you:
Who is your favorite villain from fiction, and why?
@Surasanji Today is the first day of real fall here in Texas... went from 90 and sunny yesterday to a high of 47 and raining overnight.
Monday is my self-assigned day to work from home, so it's always nice. It's a good day to stay cozy with a hot drink and watch the rain while I work on a proposal abstract.
@freemo @neverfadingwood There are also the functions they serve for the government and the people. Diplomatic functions and such. One would need to weigh the general cost of those services from other agencies versus those provided by the royalty. It's kind of a mess and I can't find many numbers.
CWed for Length
@freemo @neverfadingwood Well, we can figure out how much tax payer money goes into the Royal family easily enough.
It looks like 43 Million GBP is the 'Soverign Grant' paid from taxpayer pockets to the House of Windsor. Which is a lot of money, but it isn't jaw dropping for an entire family of 'Royalty'. This comes from their official website.
How much of that is true to fact- there are always hidden expenses tucked away in situations like that- I couldn't say.
There is another number I was able to find from a group called 'Republic' that puts the cost of the Royal Family at 345 million GBP a year, which is quite a bit more.
I'm not sure how they came to that number, though.
All very interesting stuff for someone who's never had a royal family. The politics and part and parcel of all that nonsense is fascinating.
@neverfadingwood That's fine, but surely there is some kind of benefit. Tourism and the like.
I'm a fan of hard numbers and I'm genuinely curious.
@neverfadingwood How much does a royal family cost? How much money does it make?
@neverfadingwood Even better! Mark off them owed debts.
@neverfadingwood Aaaawww Yissss. PayDay!
@freemo @LWFlouisa Primary colors really POP. Red, white, and blue feature heavily on a LOT of flags in some amounts. I think people just sort of naturally gravitate towards those primary colors for some reason.
Account has been Depreciated. Thanks for all the fun, QOTO!
