lives on 10 acres in a sparsely populated area of the Ozarks. I heat with wood that is leftover by the lumber industry. When cutting oak for lumber only the trunk is used.
The largest town is population 2992. The county is 13k people scattered over 713 square miles.

In Nov 2019, I went to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico with a couple of friends. Aside from losing my phone in the Pacific Ocean, it was a great trip. Near the end, we bought one of those floaty thingies - three 40-something men sharing one floaty and getting bowled over by big waves. Good times! This is a shot from a sunset cruise we went on one evening.

It is truly amazing what Ukraine can use these drones for. And they are getting pretty good at building kamikaze drones. Just consider what happened at Engels Air Base. The Russians got so panicked they shot down their own SU-27 because they thought it might be another drone. Killed the pilot of course.

Ranked Choice Voting sounds like a great thing in towns and cities. Out here in the rural Ozarks it's basically a one party system. In this last year's primary election the Democratic ballot offered 6 choices. They were all for statewide office. All the locals were Republicans.

I can't help feeling they failed to give enough consideration to this very crowded field.
Abbott with his phony border inspections that caused Billions of dollars worth of produce to rot, doubling and in some cases tripling the price of fresh produce. I had to give up avocado on toast thanks to him.
But the guy who really takes the cake is Santos. When you are a fugitive from justice, it's very unwise to run for public office. And that is just the beginning. I am sure there are dozens of laws this man violated.

Thor is 17 - he’s not sit in my lap in years. A challenge with cats, I’ve found from having 6 of them over the span of 40 years is that their health sometimes declines slowly. Last fall, we just felt like something was off and so took him to the vet. They ran blood tests and found that he’s diabetic. i have to give him insulin injections twice a day, but what a remarkable turn around he’s made. He plays again, harasses the other cat, and now sits in my lap.
In this pic he is squinting - any time he looks at me, he squints. It’s apparently a sign of non-aggression. I squint back, btw.
One of the best feelings in the world is when a cat curls up to nap in my lap.
