The imposition of oil sanctions against Russia is increasingly posing challenges for the Kremlin due to the limitations of non-dollar currency payments. Currently, there is no resolution in sight, significantly impeding oil sales to Asia, reports Reuters.
The conversion issue became critical when, in July 2023, India, the largest purchaser of Russian crude oil, demanded payment in rupees. This nearly halted trade with the Russian Federation.
"Russian oil suppliers are unable to execute deals in Indian rupees due to unofficial directives from the Russian central bank, which refuses to accept this currency," the publication states.
The Central Bank of the Russian Federation reportedly declines revenue in non-convertible currencies with minimal value beyond India.
A temporary solution involved payment for shipments using a mix of Chinese yuan, Hong Kong dollars as an intermediary currency for yuan, and the UAE dirham, which is tied to the dollar.
The report highlights persistent difficulties in identifying a viable alternative to the dollar, affecting buyers in Africa, China, and Türkiye—major purchasers of Russian oil.

Good morning. I finally figured out this brace. It's a torture device. After the surgery my fingers were wrapped at a 45 degree angle to minimize strain on the repaired tendons. This brace holds them at a 15 degree angle. Almost straight. I woke up about 2AM in agony. Had to resort to a shot of brandy and 1½ Norco. Then slept until 10.
Went to Springfield. They took the bandages off and literally built a custom brace for me. On the way home I shopped. Ten more dollar pizzas. That ought to last a week.
