While my profile details my planetary mission mapping, I also have a very down-to-Earth background.

I started my first internship at the Central Transportation Planning Staff (CTPS) in Boston MA digitizing the first spatial road network for the whole state, then became a GIS Specialist covering precinct mapping, watersheds, and local gov mapping in Ohio, coal resource mapping at Reston, USGS, and contaminant mapping at navy bases in VA.

Our sweet kitty Ash is going in for dental surgery December 19th to remove one (possibly more) painful resorption tooth lesions, which will cost between $1400 and $1900 (to be determined after he gets his x-rays to find out how many teeth are afflicted).

@Pwnallthethings Other frustrations with this place:
- nobody is able to pay to insert "promoted" toots into my timeline
- nobody puts random cards into my timeline trying to entice me to follow people I don't care about
- nobody ever fills my timeline with random posts people I follow have liked

It's sooo frustrating to be shown only the things I ask to be shown instead of a bunch of random crap I don't care about!

Lotta complaining about the unintuitiveness and learning curve of Mastodon from people who use Excel on a daily basis.

I think part of the appeal of the growing migration to mastodon is that we can look at Musk’s nonsense and collectively tell the richest man in the world: UNSUBSCRIBE. It’s downright empowering. (Alas not an option for Sam Alito, Trump, McConnell, Miller,, et al.)

I've seen a few people ask what happens if the instance you are on closes down.

Tradition on Mastodon is that all the people on that instance are buried alive with the admin in a giant pyramid made of old phones and laptops. 😵
