Shout out to long-time HRP supporter, @RixaMarie, for stopping by our #NAISAC booth, dropping some great reading recommendations, & entering our drawing for a free t-shirt & poster! #restorehumanity

i’ve been waiting to find out from people who use the phrase. “woke mob“ how that mob behaved and how it affected them. Now my question is answered.

(You do know this is a humor piece, right?) 🙃

Personally, I think the wealth gap is part of the problem.

Only right-wing Americans could possibly think that a vast wealth gap in society is natural, normal and fundamentally right!

@modulux @schratze same, my second block in 4 months on Mastodon.
I suspect the instance will be flagged soon

"Placing more emphasis on students' explanations requires teachers to relinquish some control over a lesson's direction. This can be a frightening prospect to a teacher who is unprepared to evaluate the validity of a novel idea that students propose."

Without understanding how race, gender, class, and the law intersect, we are severely limited in our ability to achieve gender equity. Bad actors that understand very well how these concepts intersect, will use that knowledge to win the long game.

This is why racists are banning the teaching and study of this intersectionality.

Prof. Kimberlé Crenshaw coined the term intersectionality. Read her stuff.

Arm yourself with the forbidden knowledge! 👍🏿

“Why do Americans have to pay Intuit to tell the IRS things it already knows?” — Cory Doctorow pluralistic.net/2023/02/20/tur

If you carve out a path in the newly fallen snow, the next person along will likely tread that path. Others will follow until the path becomes easy and accessible for everybody.

If you pioneer a new model for society, everyone who joins in builds upon that model with their participation, ideas and innovations... until that model becomes the standard and the old, dysfunctional model becomes obsolete.

With #Mastodon, we have a functioning model of a new society in its early stage. As more people join in, the direction we need to take will become more apparent.

We all have that power... to create a #NewSociety.

“"Replacing gasoline-powered cars with EVs saves energy, regardless of the energy source used to recharge EVs." Please take note of the word "regardless," as that's how "coal-powered cars" are in fact cleaner than gas-powered cars. Efficiency: EVs have it, ICE cars don't.” - motortrend.com/features/truth- #electriccar #energy #cars #EVs

If you tell your friends about Mastodon, you’re technically an ambassador of the federation.

A period reminder that teaching is far more complex than using some tools or enacting some curriculum. Some would try to simplify it to that (many who have never taught for a day), but especially in this 'post Covid' time teaching has been especially complex and draining.

Sure, calculators also make up random answers? Why must education always "catch up" with tech, from typewriters, radio, TV, and calculators to computers and the internet, social media, big data and language models? Maybe education has purposes beyond technical applications.

It is one thing for Speaker Kevin #McCarthy to fully release the Jan. 6 footage.

But releasing the footage EXCLUSIVELY to a Jan. 6 denier like #TuckerCarlson? That is as insane as appointing Marjorie Taylor Greene to the Homeland Security Committee.

To the Lakota, Ȟe Sápa (the Black Hills) are the place of creation, of shelter, the heart of all that is. The Lakota chiefs signed treaties to protect Ȟe Sápa in perpetuity, but as soon as gold was discovered, the US violated their agreement and stole the land. Then they carved the faces of their presidents upon Tȟuŋkášila Šákpe, the sacred mountain of the six grandfathers (earth, sky, and four directions). These men know nothing of honor, so we do not honor them.

The robots aren't taking over. They're not falling in love. They're not feeling. They don't want to be alive. They're not evil masterminds. They create word patterns based off text on the internet. Is what journalists should be saying, not gee-whiz sci-fi LARPing about fancy autocorrect.
