@ambihelical @freemo "after our idiot behavior came to light and was publicly discussed , we decided that being held accountable for our actions was too much so we backpedaled and hope you forget” 👍🏻
If they really recognized their error I'd expect it wouldnt have been a silence.. but it is improvement at least.

Mastodon and the Fediverse are at their best when you are following lots of people, not only because you see their posts, but because you also see the posts they share. Seeing lots of shares makes it much easier to discover stuff.
➡️ For tips on finding people to follow click here: https://fedi.tips/how-to-use-mastodon-and-the-fediverse-basic-tips/#HowDoIFindPeopleToFollow
Following people is how discovery works on here. There's no computer algorithm pushing stuff to you, instead there are millions of human beings manually sharing stuff they find interesting.
When I was active at the wikipedia there were a group of other writers who would follow my around and mark my articles on women and black people for deletion. They marked my edits CN even when there was a citation. They reworded everything I wrote to minimize the contributions of minorities to history, and hint at theories of racial inferiority. I'd just go to the library and bury them in more citations. It was kind of violent TBH.
77% of Black Americans say voting is a right for every U.S. citizen and should not be restricted, as do 63% of Hispanic Americans and 66% of Asian Americans. White Americans are divided: 51% say voting is a right, while 48% say it is a privilege.

New research looks at the effects of repeated Covid infections and finds pretty much what you would expect: you not only do not get any kind of superimmunity, you increase your risk of long-term consequences, hospitalization and death. The worse news is that this holds true regardless of vaccination status.
This is not over. Please take care. Mask up.
1) Don't ask Black users to CW discussions of their own racism.
2) Don't be on a server where mods mistreat Black folk.
3) Support the mods on your own server, financially and otherwise.
4) Don't engage with sea lions that say "Mistreatment? Here? prove it!" There have been enough threads shared on Black folk receiving racism. Individually convincing each one is exhausting, and expecting that is a tactic of bad faith actors.
The Media Still Don’t Know How to Cover Trump’s Extremism
“We found that there’s this perfect one-to-one relationship. If a city increased its road capacity by 10%, then the amount of driving in that city went up by 10%.” One of the earliest, and still one of the best articles on why building bigger roads just leads to more driving. Call it #InducedDemand, or #JevonsParadox, or the #LawOfCongestion. Via WIRED, it’s worth a read and share.

I'm curious how many #CommunityCollege folks are experience restrictions on what they can and can't do in their classrooms? Your thoughts and resources for protecting #AcademicFreedom would be appreciated! @edutooters #edutooter
As the year comes to a close, I am mindful of two fantastic organizations that are doing incredible equity, anti-racist work that has emerged over the last couple of years that I invite those who have the resources to support.

"Grades are not only statistically useless, they have been acting as academic gatekeepers for millions of students, unjustly sorting, sifting, & selecting which students get to go where and why." - @Mathgarden on why "Grading Gets an F"
You're not "using AI to generate creative ideas".
You're using #AI to reproduce creative ideas by others and mashing them together without understanding and attribution.
