If Musk "steps down" as Twitter CEO, per his latest bogus "poll", some things to remember:

1) He'll still be the owner, and the owner makes the rules the CEO carries out.

2) He lies incessantly. Nothing he says can be trusted, ever.

3) Big Journalism will breathlessly cover the charade as if it meant something, and will continue to support a man who loathes honest reporting and has contempt for genuine freedom of expression.

@LouisIngenthron Dude trying to help build was pushed into the hospital with a heart attack seeing death threats, urges to suicide, and snuff video. I am not happy, and I am not inclined to give those participating the "benefit of a doubt." @freemo may have a link to something "suitable for a press release," but I'm not in a position to clarify.

I see too many people being the monster they claim they are fighting. Every time... Every GOD DAMNED FUCKING TIME I wonder if I'm being just a bit too dark and cynical, I have this shit to remind me I need to lower my expectations a little more.

@mguhlin One other resource I ran across recently is this spreadsheet which lists the top 100 or so Mastodon servers, along with whether or not they are currently accepting new registrations docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d

@lxo @mediocreape @freemo @lxo makes a good point here. I think the "alternate walled garden" analogy is misleading. is an agreement between gardeners that they will not build walls between themselves.

@ZingerLearns @scerruti @martin @edutooters And to get back to the original question: grading/evaluating based on those kind of metrics would help buffer against tools like #ChatGPT. I don't care if your code is perfect right now. I just want to see meaningful progress.

How long before we start hearing about the bird app being too big and too important to fail as terrible boss tech bro Elon drives the company into the ground and the genius financial investors who backed him in this venture start talking about the damage to everyday people from the billions they mismanaged in backing him?

We found out what really happened in the stalking incident Elon Musk cited to ban @elonjet and a bunch of journalists. This is the story we were asking Musk about on Twitter when he suspended @taylorlorenz. (I'm still suspended!) washingtonpost.com/technology/

Remember love and accountability are not mutually exclusive.

@scerruti @ZingerLearns @martin @edutooters I wish we could capture & assess the natural progression of coding fluency. Similar to learning a new spoken language, you start out stilted, but slowly your elegance and nuance improves.

What may have once been a complicated mess of nested if/else-if statements may later become a few methods with careful use of return statements.

But that's just so hard to quantify on a 0-100 scale (and in a way that adjusts expectations as the students progress).

The Need for More Formative Research in Edtech

We studied products focused on social-emotional learning, parent engagement, elementary math, Spanish reading comprehension, and teacher and administrator efficiency and administrative tools.

The types of studies ranged from usability studies to correlational studies and more.

@scerruti @martin @edutooters If students felt like school was about *actually learning* instead of competing for GPAs and limited slots at expensive colleges (and therefore scholarships), maybe they wouldn't stress out when it takes a little longer to grasp a concept.

It doesn't help that we need to set quarterly or semesterly deadlines for completing work.

Also important to note that in *most* lines of work, you're never graded. You just decide when the product is good enough and move on.

Yeah so I don’t think we’re going to Mars

UPDATE: The tweets by @TwitterSupport@twitter.com this morning, announcing a new policy banning linking to competing websites, have been deleted.

The policy itself was deleted from Twitter’s website.
