Local time of most countries is ahead of solar time (especially in the northern hemisphere). Countries behind the sun are mostly around the equator.

What's good practice these days for testing #rstats packages before submitting to CRAN? R-hub and Winbuilder are great but don't always run successfully and aren't reproducing some errors reported by CRAN.
We use a novel multilevel emulator which accounts for input dependent noise to construct an emulator when we only have access to a low training budget; motivated by the need to perform sensitivity analysis in an offshore wind setting
Our new paper "Multilevel emulation for stochastic computer models with application to large offshore wind farms" is now available online! With Daniel Henderson & Kevin Wilson

If you use #RStats in your research, making sure your research is reproducible is really important 💡💡💡
These slides from Etienne Bacher about good practices to improve reproducibility will be very useful!
It's time for #TidyTuesday again! Thanks to @jmcastagnetto for sharing the data this week from the Programming Language DataBase 💻💻

📢 The March North East #DataScience meetup is here! 📢
Tomorrow (March 16th) we'll be welcoming Rebecca Bristow (Oliver Wyman) and Giacamo Bergami (Newcastle University) to the Catalyst, and look forward to a whirlwind tour of ggplot2 workshop from Keith Newman!

Journal asked me to remove reference to colour in figure captions as this is inaccessible? There's _also_ a description of line/plotting character type. Seems stupid as my short-sightedness makes distinguishing by colour much easier than by e.g. line type

Mixing #TidyTuesday with vegetation index from multispectral images (the kind of data I use most frequently at work!) to test if numbats distribution is related to vegetation, at national and local scale. Answer in plot below...

@_jcken @mcmc_stan There seems to be a lot of use of Stan in the industry. The first two examples that come to my mind are Pharmacometrics ---we have some examples in Section 1.1 of this paper (https://ascpt.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/psp4.12812); and forecasting in tech, notably via the software Prophet (https://facebook.github.io/prophet/) built on top of Stan.
interested to hear if anyone is using #stan @mcmc_stan in industrial settings? Can be based in industry or academic collaboration
