The German office for data protection and freedom of information hosts the official #Mastodon server for government departments

They are now calling for all ministries on the server to put their focus on Mastodon

They are also asking ministries which are not yet on Mastodon to join as soon as possible

I didn't leave #twitter because it got ugly or unpleasant for me, whenever I check it mostly seems fine, with people I followed just going along like nothing happened. I left because it got shitty for other people.
I left because it was bought by a Nazi to promote Nazi ideas and I don't want to support Nazis.

I like people who take a knee to protest injustice, rather than those who want to shred the Constitution.

Musk doing the fake pronouns thing to mock trans people and siding with anti-vaxxers in the same tweet is incredibly disturbing. The people ignoring this because they think he's a genius even more so.

I am excited to hear that as of today the user member count int he #UFoI has just hit a record high of ~400,000 user members! That gets us to about 5% fediverse coverage!

Have been profoundly disappointed in the @nytimes coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but this really takes the cake. 
Russia mounted a genocidal invasion of a sovereign democratic nation, committed unspeakable crimes against the civilian population and their culture (rape, torture, murder, forced deportation, seizing cultural artifacts, etc), sends barrages of missiles against civilian infrastructure DAILY, but Ukraine is escalating because it defends itself?

I am now compiling a list of all servers who may have an interest in joining the United Federation of Instances.

Quite a few instances have already signed up.

Please reach out to me, all servers of any size are welcome!

This is non binding, its just to get a preliminary list. You can withdrawl at any time and dont have to go through the application process. I just want to know what servers to reach out to once we begin kicking things off.

If you are a server admin please let me know **in DM** if you have an interest and I will add you to the (for now) private list. I want to only release the list once we have enough momentum so please respond in DM only.
