One of my favourite archaeological activities is when I get a chance to do experimental archaeology. Here we have constructed a replica Iron Age/ Romano British pottery kiln and are making replica Black Burnished ware vessels, a British pottery type. It gave me many new insights into what I'm seeing in the ground, and allows me to better interpret archaeological remains.
