@jetton Hey, just noticed you have #evolutionaryBiology in your intro post.
And there's always a question I've wanted to ask.
How the hell does symbiosis and parasitosis evolve?
I have an idea, please correct me if I'm wrong:
That species never evolve on their own, all evolution depends on their current environment and other species participate on that, so they evolve together as a system, and never isolated. Just as species compete for survival: Birds with better vision and moths with better mimicry. But moths would never reach that level of precision if small birds were not able to recognize snakes or owls. So the ability of moths to mimic snakes or owl eyes DEPENDS on their predators' ability to recognize them. So they evolve together and ironically require being on the edge of death (evolutionary pressure?) to produce and thrive with these wonderful mutations.
Is this how symbiosis evolves? For example, certain juice-producing caterpillars using the aid of ants to protect themselves, and so on?
Is there any literature about the topic?
@plsburydoughboy I've seen lots of new people, but they were all cool. I think those kinds of people will stay on Twitter. There were always some of them here already, but not too many new ones, I think.
@campylobacter Use hashtags to find people to follow who share some interests. This place is really hopping now compared to 2 years ago, but it operates a little differently from Twitter. I didn't like it at first either, but it's great once you make some friends.
@joshmillard I never even joined the bird-site, and I think part of that is because I never felt the need since Metafilter was more than enough to keep me happy.

Dear Twitter ex-pats. When we all flounced out of Twitter loudly proclaiming we were going to Mastodon this sent a message to trolls, nazis that they could set up servers & come here.
If anyone gets harrassed with hatespeech pls note that that is not the culture of Mastodon. Please report & block those users. If you notice a pattern from the same weird domain, block that domain, write a post of the server name w/ a hashtag fediblock so your server admin can follow up & block it for everyone.

@johnnylogic That's the way it should be. Too many styles practically sell their black belts. I've seen some schools that have 16 year old Black belts, and that's just ridiculous.

@johnnylogic What style of martial arts do you do? I do Aikido and Tai chi

Just a reminder to all the new arrivals here:
These instances are NOT commercial entities like #Twitter ... someone is paying the bills for servers and networking, and the massive influx of people like us are raising those costs enormously.
Be a good citizen, checkout the "About this server" link, and if you can, make a donation towards costs.
