This was my favourite post I ever made on the bird site because of the amazing replies I got, so in an attempt to make this place a bit warmer and happier for me I'll try this here too. Don't know what hashtag this could possibly fit under so I appreciate all replies/boosts :)

What are some decidedly mundane parts of nature that still fill you with joy and wonder anyway every time you see them? Bonus points for pictures!

@idoubtit The comparisons between Ford and Musk are appropriate. Ford thought his expertise in Automoblies would carry over into running a rubber plantation called Fordlandia. It was horribly mis-managed and a complete failure. So since Musk is horribly mis-managing Twitter and it looks like it will be a complete failure, some people are calling Twitter "Musklandia".

@gretchenmcc I love your podcast! Welcome! I hope you have fun here. It's a bit different than that other site, but once you get used to it, you'll like it.

In short, it does a disservice to behavioral interventions.

And it holds up the idea of a gene>mouse model>a drug as the path forward (which has never happened in that simple way and never will).

It lacks nuance and humility on this topic. Does any textbook/chapter do this better?

Understanding #Mastodon gets easier once you get the basic idea that federation between servers can be understood as homeomorphisms across hyperplanes between the Riemannian manifolds of toots, whereas the servers represent countable finite sets of discrete entities.

New to Mastodon? Here's an overview of privacy and security questions for this new way of doing social media. eff.org/deeplinks/2022/11/mast
