Ok here is an image, what follows is a poll about what it shows.

Is it:

A. A dog sneaks into an empty lot then joyfully chases its own tail.

B. A dog looks with longing at other dogs playing through a fence.

C. Something else?

And the poll!

I think what annoys me most about the phrase "This is the New Normal" is that it sort implies that we just have to accept it and there's nothing we can do.

Being sick all the time is Not Normal.

The oceans boiling and the forests burning down while the cities either flood or wither in droughts is Not Normal either.

A few assholes holding the vast majority of the wealth while the rest of us struggle to get by is definitely Not Normal.

And we should not accept any of it as Normal.
It is not.

*pssst* every time you see NASA branded clothing, no money goes to NASA at all, the cool “worm” logo is public domain so whatever company is making clothing keeps all the sales $$$. There’s no such thing as a “Vans + NASA” collaboration. It’s why the NASA logo shows up often in cheap fast fashion brands. It’s free for the taking by anyone.

Attention #Montreal #RetroComputing folks!

There is a retro PC seller at the St-Michel Flea Market, that is moving out of Montreal in a few months!

They are looking to sell off all of their inventory before moving, I wrote a short blog post on some of the interesting items I saw at their stand. There could be a chance they do shipping but I can't speak for them.

You know, many people probably walk through Plaza Las Fuentes in Pasadena and don't really wonder about how the waters are connected.

But I do.

And we're gonna run around with a cheap-o conductivity probe and figure it all out.

So buckle up, because SCIENCE IS GONNA HAPPEN!

(And we gonna focus on really cheap and easy stuff. So you too can do this with your favorite fountains and water features.)

People working in tech need to be paying attention to what is happening with unions and strikes across America right now.

Take notes y’all.

Point by point:
I have seen healthy food.
I have seen well made shoes.
I know the difference netween mosquitoes and butterflies.
Your analogies are flawed.

@seachanger What makes you think that journalists will "vet stories, check facts, and use best practices for sharing news"? They certainly haven't demonstrated that to my satisfaction. They didn't help end the pandemic or prevent lies about the election from spreading. They didn't stop misinformation from spreading all over Twitter and Facebook.
All they do is copy and paste press releases.
In my opinion, we don't need them here.

@futurebird When you mentioned musicals with incisive political commentary, it reminded me of an unfinished musical by Jim Steinman that I heard some demos from. Unfortunately I couldn't find it on Youtube, but I did find a video that is a collaboration between Steinman and the famous director Ken Russell, based on Russell's segment in the compilation opera movie Aria. It's slightly NSFW though, so I won't post it unless you want to see it.

@AdamStuartSmith @RasherMurphy I haven't looked at it yet. It just got here a little while ago. The website was in my favorites for years and years though.
