Do you know why aardvarks never get sick? It's because they are so full of anty bodies.

I keep seeing articles, about people trying to violently overturn election results, that use phrases like “motivated by election lies”.

They aren’t motivated by lies, they are motivated by not liking the result. Repeating the lies just makes them feel powerful because it makes them part of the grift. They think they’re fooling people.

Blaming the lies lulls us into thinking that this is an education/disinformation problem which, if addressed, will eliminate the violence.

These folks aren’t deluded. They’ve learned from their leaders that violence and lying are the route to power.

For most of my life I thought these problems could be solved by education. I no longer do. As far as I can tell, about 30% of the population believes that getting away with grifts and bullying people is proof of power and leadership that should be respected, worshiped, and emulated.

We can’t educate these folks. We can only build a society that ensures that they cannot gain control. Unfortunately, the entire human race has largely failed to do so, and we’re suffering the consequences on a planetary scale.

Every day we act as though they don’t *know* that the elections were valid, is a day we risk losing the fight for democracy, equality, and a stable environment.

@futurebird be sure to take a catenary in the math mines just to be safe. Have a great day!

By the way, if you think the artificial lens bit is hyperbole, think again. Quite a few years ago now I was sitting at dinner with some CEO of some startup that had developed a free tool they said helped people with dyslexia read more easily.

So, as I do, I asked him my favourite question: “how will you make money with this?”

He looked at me like I was rather daft before answering, matter of factly, “well, we know what you’re reading.”

Say no more, my friend. Say no more.

We are at most, a few months away from apps with content and sharing mechanisms just not possible on Twitter or other centralized, closed-source platforms. That's when the momentum will really start to build for Activitypub and other protocols supporting federated networks. We have stop talking about it being a twitter "alternative" and start talking about is as an evolutionary step forward in global social networking. Because that's what it is.

Americans lose more money to civil asset forfeiture than to burglary every year now, and the wage theft dwarf that.

You're far more likely to to be robbed by your employers and the police than you are by your neighbours.

You know what I think? The "many" - for which #Mastodon isn't as good as #Twitter - are in fact #celebrities and clickhunters (i.e. #mainstream media), so of course those media will report negatively about Mastodon. I really believe that we're better off here without celebs, #corporations, influencers, and people who think Mastodon is "too complicated."

I was going to post this one on Facebook, but I was worried it might start an actual conspiracy theory.
