Knowledge is knowing that the monster isn't Frankenstein.
Wisdom is realizing that maybe Frankenstein really is the monster.

I kind of miss when I had to defrag the computer and I could just watch the little animation of how it was all getting less fragmented and pretend that my life was also coming together like that.

Since #Nashville #Tennessee has been trending quite a bit lately, I'd like to remind the Fediverse™ that there is a mastodon instance for Nashville citizens and related accounts, focused on building in-person relationships and making local change: https://nashtodon.com

Full disclosure - I run that instance. And we're having a party when we get to 100 users. And yes, there will be a band.

"The twin gods of Smooth Traffic and Ample Parking—have turned our downtowns into places that are easy to get to but not worth arriving at.”

gentlyepigrams posted Parking Lot Map: "This map shows you how much of the downtown land of 50 major US cities is taken up by parking lots," and in the thread, Parking Reform Network president Tony Jordan (twjordan on Mefi) comments to explain why "In a not insignificant way, MetaFilter is responsible for these maps!"

If you're not happy single, you won't be happy in a relationship. True happiness comes from watching a seagull shoplift snacks from a convenience store, not from another person.

I've never posted any of my husband's telephoto #moon shots on Mastodon before. They're very popular in our shop and on our Facebook page. On Twitter I have to brace myself for the shouts of Photoshop from people who know zero about photography.

This is #StCatherinesOratory on the #IsleofWight a medieval lighthouse. This shot is achieved by working out when the moon will rise here (rarely) and standing a couple of miles away with a #telephotolens. The weather has to be kind. #photography

Why #KCRW is leaving #Twitter — and where else to find us | KCRW #NPR

Twitter has falsely labeled NPR as “state-affiliated media.” It’s a term the platform applies to propaganda outlets in countries without a free press, a guaranteed right in the United States.
This is an attack on independent journalism, the very principle that defines public media. Twitter has since doubled down on the label, which is outrageous and further undermines the credibility of the platform.

Easter eggs are aborted chicken embryos that are painted in drag and rainbow colors for small kids to worship.

Happy Easter, conservatives!
