@stavvers there’s a weird sort of desperation to it. it’s like twitter died and bsky is its bedroom which has been kept exactly as it was just in case it ever comes back

People get so defensive about their post-Xitter social media, which I find incredibly silly. All of these services are too new to come to any meaningful conclusions about them. And only 2 of them promise open ecosystems. Supporting any that don’t is reckless, uninformed and selfish, imo. Just because some friends are there, is no excuse to gravitate toward another fascist-enabling, closed social media nightmare like the mess we’re all running away from.

To properly prepare us for another introspective #caturday, let us meditate on some cat names given to them lovingly, we assume, by their servants.
Foucault named his cat Insanity.
Derrida named his cat Logos.
Camus named his cat Cigarette.
Dear journalists:
You continue to pour your work into Musk's business. You are supporting him. You are helping him.
You are doing this despite his demonstrated contempt for you, despite his support for extremists -- and, as of today, his rank anti-semitism (effectively blaming Jews for his vile site's loss of advertising)
I know that you believe you get value from being "where the people are" -- but sometimes principle requires sacrifice.
So much is at stake.

Uvalde proved once and for all that cops are worse than useless, they're in the way.
There's a name for people who rely on police to protect them. They're called "victims." Police have no obligation to protect us. The SCOTUS agrees.

You talk shit about cops now, but just wait until a guy breaks in your house and you need to call someone who will show up an hour late and shoot your dog.
Largely forgotten until now, between 1933 and 1945 hundreds and hundreds of Jewish women and men performed individual acts of resistance in Nazi Germany.
Jews of all ages destroyed Nazi symbols, protested in public, disobeyed Nazi laws and defended themselves against insults and physical attacks.
