@bibliolater Yes, but only if they are orthographic in the sense of being dimensionally compressed :)

@bibliolater No, this is a safe space. Spell checkers are to judgmental.

(while this shouldnt need to be said.... this is a joke)

@bibliolater wouldn't improve it for me. Too many different languages, abbreviations, dialects, and bits of oddments. I feel like I'd always be uncorrecting the spell check.

🇩🇰 "While the two major shifts in Danish Mesolithic and Neolithic material culture may have had different drivers and causes, the outcomes were ultimately the same: new people arrived and rapidly took over the territory. With this arrival, the local landscape was modified to fit the lifestyle and culture of the immigrants. This is the hallmark of the Anthropocene, observed here in high resolution in prehistoric Denmark."

The slave trade and the origins of matrilineal kinship: "We find that the slave trades are positively associated with the subsequent presence of matrilineal kinship. We also find evidence of a complementarity between polygyny and matrilineal kinship"

On 7 February 1601, just before the uprising, supporters of the Earl of Essex, among them Charles and Joscelyn Percy (younger brothers of the Earl of Northumberland), paid for a performance at the Globe Theatre on the eve of their armed rebellion. via @wikipedia

Science sleuths are using technology to find fakery and plagiarism in published research | “They want science to be and do better,” Oransky said. “And they are frustrated by how uninterested most people in academia — and certainly in publishing — are in correcting the record.”

"The main objective of this scientific study was to see whether AI could be used in a scientifically appropriate manner to improve the scientific writing process. Indeed, AI reduced the time for writing but had significant inaccuracies. The latter necessitates that AI cannot currently be used alone but could be used with careful oversight by humans to assist in writing scientific review articles."

Spanish "aceite" means "oil" but looks confusingly like it might be cognate with "acid". Spanish was spoken for a thousand years before enyone knew that fats are chemically speaking acids. Turns out it's an Arabic word, "azzayt", and has nothing to do with Latin "acidus".
