@andbhold @bibliolater There is discussion about the QT on the basis of this, https://absolutelymaybe.plos.org/2023/01/12/quote-tweeting-over-30-studies-dispel-some-myths/
The author is also in Mastodon.
@bibliolater @bookstodon Exactly. I feel like reading is very useful to fight back your blind spots and ego!
@Hippasus500 @johnrakestraw @bookstodon @bibliolater Being able to concentrate on one thing at a time is the privilege of people who don't need to tend small children or other dependents along with whatever else they are doing. Not needing to learn proper task switching does leave them somewhat limited.
@johnrakestraw @bookstodon @bibliolater
There is no such thing as “multi-tasking.” <wink> Even computers only do one thing at a time, albeit quickly. Humans, being far less reliable, with a far more complex OS, are far less successful at switching contexts.
The older I get, the more I realize it’s better to concentrate on one task at a time…or maybe it’s dementia.

@joonhyeok_ahn @bibliolater @bookstodon I do, too. If U r looking for interesting interviews with authors, I recommend "First Draft: A Dialog on Writing". This weekly podcast consists of interviews Mitzi Rapkin conducts with authors.
@bibliolater @bookstodon Yeap actually I like those provocative and challenging books as I can widen my perspectives. I didn’t know I can work less but still be prolific until I read deep work for example. It can be hard to take but I think of it as a good discussions with authors

@bibliolater @johnrakestraw @bookstodon "Not all who wander are lost." - Tolkien. I think you can liken wandering to "unplanned endeavour" and if you put it in a different context, such as exploring, I would argue unplanned is often better than planned.
@bibliolater @bookstodon i think usually is (almost) always better than always. 😉
@bibliolater @bookstodon Even though words like “always” and “never” make me a little nervous, I think I largely agree

Not a bot; a rather corpulent male approaching fifty years of age; married; father; a very very slow reader; barely reaching up to the level of mediocrity; an ignoramus who reads occasionally.
Toots are humanities, sciences, books and maps related. Toots or follows or boosts or mentions ≠ endorsements of any particular notion or notions. Expect many typing errors.
