Monarchs and others are heading south #nature #butterflies #pollination #autumn

A #MonarchButterfly spotted over the weekend. Not sure what kind of flower it's hiding behind. #nature #insects #butterflies #SouthCoastBotanicGarden

I seem to have accidentally tended towards invertebrate keeping in recent years. I have raised death's dead hawkmoths, painted lady #butterflies , hatched out atlas and ceropia #moths .

A Scarce Silverstreak (Iraota rochana) spotted at Ulu Sembawang Park Connector, Singapore, on 23 October 2022. A rare butterfly, this location has lately become one of the places where they can be commonly spotted.

Hello world!

@ami_angelwings

@timnitGebru It has to be exhausting to be Black on fedi.

I wonder what the rest of us could do to help? One (long standing) critique I've heard by Black users is that blocking is unidirectional - I can block you and not see your content, but by default you could still see mine. Maybe we could campaign for that issue to be addressed, which would add friction to harassment?

Or, you know, we could all agree not to be awful to each other. 🙄

Initial impression of Mastodon…

Following some great advice given here: my bio in hashtags. Hope it’ll help connect with the right crowds!

I don't think Mastodon or the fediverse has ever received this much attention before. It's a great opportunity for people to finally see that social media can be done differently, that it can be a protocol not under control of any single company.

Well, I’m slowly getting a little more confident and paddling out deeper into the Mastosphere. Trousers now rolled up to the knees and the water not feeling as cold…

Because I need distraction…. Here’s another #DogsOfMastodon #WetNoseWednesday #woofday #dogs #dailydoggo

This is Witek. He likes tuna, morning cuddles, cat yoga and cat tv. He hates getting his claws clipped, water, alcohol, toddlers. #catsofmastodon #cats #blackcats #blackcat #cat

#DogsOfMastodon this is my little rescue dog, Folly. She likes to help me work and sees herself as a future bioinformatician 🤔🐶

Looks like I might just hit 30K followers in the next 3 days or so at current rates... Who wants to have a beer to celebrate?

@freemo @arinbasu @SteveZissou I’m very new here, but must say I’m loving this server! Excited to be part of such a great community which is not something I’ve felt on social media before! 🤩
