This picture from my Flickr albums is of a damselfly that visited my small pond this summer. The pond is simply an old kitchen sink that I put in the ground in summer 2021. I bought three plants for it and waited for nature to arrive. It didn't take long. This year I even saw a newt tadpole.

Another non-bird post today! Visiting these Australian Sea Lions was an incredible experience - they have such a powerful presence! Taken in April on a guided tour at Seal Bay, Kangaroo Island, South Australia

I often tell people how clumsy I can be and I'm not sure they always believe me. Are you sitting comfortably?
Pottered into the kitchen in my PJs. Awake early as I tend to be thanks to my work-bodyclock, so it's about 05:15 and I'm a tad bleary. What's needed here is coffee.
Boil the kettle and pour water into my favourite cup to warm. Grind beans. Fill coffee-maker filter holder and fit to machine. Notice water is low in the tank. Fill a tall cup with water and pour into machine.
Go to put tall cup on counter next to warming coffee cup. Somehow manage to let go of cup too soon which slips towards hot cup and knocks it heavily towards... me.
Freshly boiled water shoots out of small cup and lands on left boob. Thin PJ t-shirt offers approximately no protection but does cling nicely to skin.
Screech, grab shirt and pull away from stinging tit.
Go to bathroom, remove shirt and replace with something dry and soft that won't hurt boiled nipple.
Return to kitchen, check cup - miraculously unharmed - continue making coffee. Stagger back to bed.
Breakfast later should be an adventure.
There’s nothing like a great station at first light. All that mighty heart is lying still.
A crow has just flown right through the engine shed, cawing to itself. The only sound. #Amsterdam
#twitterrefugees #riptwitter #newbies #twittermigration Newcomers, if you are wondering who can see your posts, you can control the scope by pressing the globe symbol when you are writing. Public - everyone can see, Unlisted - use this for replies in threads - everyone can see, but it doesn’t repost in the local or federated timelines, so doesn’t clog things up, Followers only - does what it says , Direct - only to people you @ in the message. More details at: https://fedi.tips/how-to-use-mastodon-and-the-fediverse-basic-tips/#WhoCanSeeMyPosts
On here? I can recommend looking into lists, they're kind of additional timelines for your own use. So if someone spams a lot but you'd still like to be able to see their posts fairly easily, you could dump them in a list timeline that you name 'Spammy people I follow' or something. :)
Wow! First time ever seeing The Hunger (1983), telling the story of a vampire like woman’s endless lie. Bowie’s alieness worked marvellously, whereas Deneuve’s total detachment and lack of emotion said more in a single look that 10 pages of script, with Tony Scott visual flair, and purposeful soundtrack. A rare film that makes Sarandon look ordinary. Magnificent.

@firehorsemia Sparrows learned how to activate the motion sensors at the cafe nearest my work so they could open the doors. The cafe had to install a push button for humans to use. So the sparrows just hung around waiting for humans to open the door for them instead...
Sweary and opinionated. It's best not to take it personally. Also hilarious but that might be less obvious.
