RT @aaron_h2002@twitter.com: $400000 was found in a man's pocket after said clothes went through a washing machine. He was then arrested on suspicion of money laundering. The irony is real. I'm dying.

supes excited to let you all know that @Gargron has released some tasty deets for the next mastodon update, 2.6.2!
the big thing that is changing is ALL avatars will be irrevocably changed to your cat. This can be updated, but only to other cats. if you do not have a cat, one will be assigned to you.
if you, for some reason, DO NOT want to participate in this incredible change, please send a signed Las Vegas greeting card to mastodon directly at:

@cj@mastodon.technology In other words, it's not impossible, just hard … Well, this will be an experiment then to see whether or not I can successfully use the C# dynamic language extensions for something like this. Or … might think about IronPython? Thoughts?

@denverqueen Oh. Those things. They're awesome.
@Surasanji It sounded like it, though I'm not up on my engines, so, I probably wouldn't be the one to ask.

My dad is intelligent, but his intelligence seems spotty these days: sometimes he'll say something completely profound, but then say things at other times where, I legitimately cannot believe he'd say something so dumb.
Tonight was one of those nights were he said something brilliant, and could change how people view Science as an academic institution.
But then once we get home sometimes, he'll immediately switch to talking about the most current Political Partisan Neo-Liberal garbage.

@Surasanji This one didn't sound quite like that. Sounded like one with a rather large engine, though.

RT @stephentotilo@twitter.com: On this day after Thanksgiving I am thankful to the Microsoft engineers who designed the Xbox One well enough that, when I pressed the disc eject button late last night, all three credit cards my kids stuffed in there slid out.

In theory the 'Open Source ecosystem' has just as much to offer as the Apple or Google ecosystems. In practice though it is much less accessible than the other two. Maybe we need some company, community or organisation that integrates services like #NextCloud, #peertube and #matrix with Open Source Operating Systems like #linux for desktops, laptops, tablets, phones etc.
making it more of a out-of-the-box experience for users.
