When will @jack suspend this account? When will @apple ban @Slate from the App Store? When will @Slate's servers kick them offline?

Oh, never mind. That sort of treatment is only reserved for conservatives, up to and including the duly elected president of the United States.

@bender I haven't seen a list specifically but I would just look at the banned instances from some of the SJW instances as a start. No fear we will never censor!

Mozilla says they want to "De-Platform" "bad people" from Internet, at the same time they want "Internet a public resource, which is open and accessible to all"

What do they mean?

Are they expecting safe internet like Russia, China or North Korea?

Supporting Firefox = Supporting censorship.

1984 its a warning for totalitarian governments, but what happens when corporations have same or more power than governments?

My hope for 2021 is that the the Bitcoin maxis stop smelling their own farts, the Ethereum maxis stop daydreaming of rainbows and pickles, the "number go up" noise goes down, and everyone in crypto realizes this shit's starting to get real.

irony of masto blocking pleroma instances left and right, and pleroma instances are full of gays and trans people, the very people they claim to defend

@Sage @p @Wehrmacht idk who your talking to, but freedom of speech is not worthy of defending because it's meaningless. That would be a ridiculous position.

Freedom of speech is worth defending because it's the only way we have to convey ideas and subject theories to scrutiny prior to implementing them. In this conception, it is not an inherent contradiction to draw a distinction between speech that is ephemeral and speech that seeks to act on the world. Though I still oppose restrictions on the latter, due to the fact that they're always used to restrict the former.

the famous "fire in a crowded theater" exception to the first amendment was in fact a ruling against a jahova's witness who was distributing anti-war leaflets, not a ruling about a madman trying to create a panic in a theater.

@fuzzyrodent85 welcome to fedi. Pick up your anime avatar and designated catboy in the line to your right.

imagine being a horny libertarian techbro on here constantly frustrated that all the hot girls are gay communists

@MilquetoastQT Probably I'll just start doing meth and never sleep again, that'll work.

I don’t even see how calls for violence are illegal tbqh. Speech and action are two separate entities or they aren’t. The yelling fire in a crowded theatre argument is particularly archaic in the age of the internet also.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand a Reddit post. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also OP's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from IFuckingLoveScience literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Reddit truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in OP's post "It's one of many cognitive dissonances people have to accept in order to make themselves believe in the concept of free speech" which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as OP's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Reddit tattoo. I paid for it with Reddit Gold. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
