@adamdavidson Hey, personally I see absolutely no reason to block your server or demand content warnings from you. Different folks have different expectations about what content they want to see, every user has the ability to block a domain for themselves and nobody is forced to follow anyone.
It’s funny, many of the “what you need to know about Mastodon” or “how to learn about the fediverse” pieces are focused on the technology and the implementation, when the hardest thing for people to understand about this context, if they’re used to traditional social media & tech, is that here we have an expectation of _consent_. Consent if you want to be included in a conversation, consent about being amplified, consent in the form of CWs on topics that you want to manage, etc. That’s it! 🎯
Here we go, it’s #introduction time:
I’m currently a second year #neuroscience #phd student at the University of Pennsylvania! Broadly interested in #vision and #computation with my current research studying higher-level vision in the #treeshrew with the goal of learning about visual #development 🧠
I also love talking/reading/posting about #environmentalism and #sustainability 🌎, hanging out with my dog 🐕🦺, and playing soccer ⚽️
Looking forward to (re)connecting with other scientists on here!
I just saw there's an option to always show toots marked with content warnings. As someone not dealing with trauma, and who's interested in things that are often hidden by hind CWs, this is great!
(To be clear, I'm not opposed to CW and will try to remember to use them myself. But lots of things I'm interested in, such as politics, get hidden and to have them revealed automatically is convenient.)
Midjourneys V4 ist nochmal ne Schippe drauf :D
"a painting of a group of people leaving Twitter hell to join Mastodon paradise in the style of Grant Wood" :D
I should do one of those #Introduction posts.
Hi, I'm Adam! I fell in love with computers in the 80s when I was 5 thanks to the BBC Micro schools program. I couldn't believe that there was a machine where you could push buttons and... stuff happened. All sorts of stuff. There was even a robot which did drawings on big bits of paper on the floor.
I'm an IT generalist, although I've drifted towards security over the past 10 years or so when stuff needed doing and no-one else was doing it, and now I do that for work and I read about it for fun. I'm not the best at anything except being me, but I'll have a damn good go at being quite good at a bunch of stuff.
A question I get asked a lot is "where are you from?" or its slightly less agreeable cousin: "Do I detect an accent?" This isn't too surprising since I'm English by birth, born in Japan, raised in German and England, and moved to Canada for work in my twenties. I've lived in Ontario since 2008 and I don't see myself moving any time soon, partly because we like it here and partly because I moved so much growing up and I'm tired.
Obligatory looks-like-a-dating-profile-but-isn't bit: I love my family, being a parent (hey I don't always like it but I always love it there's a difference), my friends, the outdoors/rocks/lakes/treees/sky, eating/drinking/cooking/baking, electronic music, rock music, playing the drums. I also apparently enjoy overthinking everything because I'm doing it right now.
Saw an opportunity to explain some cultural differences between Mastodon and Twitter to a tweet-friendly audience, here’s what I came up with: https://twitter.com/ShortFormErnie/status/1590186951168372736 #noxp
Mastodon: What you need to know for your security and privacy
If you’re leaving Twitter for Mastodon, here are some things you should know.

Please reblog/boost if you think this would help folks you know who are new to Mastodon. (Likes are appreciated, but won't help spread the advice)
More #introduction !

Here is a page of Ladies With Guns published by Dargaud, drawn by Anlor, writted by Olivier Bocquet and colored by me.
Ok as promised, here are some photos from this morning's total lunar eclipse
Originally thought about a tripod / long exposure but it was A. very early in the morning and 2. v cold so I freehanded and am happy with the results.
First one taken during moonrise at about 9pm ET on Monday night - the latter two are about an hour apart during eclipse proper, 4:20am ET and 5:15am ET.
A consciousness somehow associated with matter.
Posting about culture, philosophy, politics, AI Art Tools, NaNoWriMo, Software Development occasionally, the relationship of consciousness to matter.

If your profile tells me nothing about you, it's less likely I'll follow you (back).
