Ways to help a writer:
-buy their book
-review their book
-gift them a fancy notebook they will never use
-gift them a fancy mug they will never drink from
-create an underground labyrinth made from copies of their book, inhabited by a minotaur who is a fan of their work

Benzie watching his favorite TV show, The Great British Baking Show.

It's my birthday! So here's a photo from the Good Omens 2 shoot. It's Crowley (the lovely David Tennant) but the screen I was watching on was pixilating in interesting ways, and it turned him into a Francis Bacon sort of a demon.

Ok made more! Here's the full set of custom #MedMastodon emoji

Looking for #histodons and #socialism and #organizers and #landback on here. Rebuilding a better (social) world. Help!

I should get started posting stuff I guess? My main obsessions are ships and architecture. And trees. Trees are cool. Oh and robots. Here are some of those things.

My "How Mastodon Works" discovery for today: If you use the advanced web interface, then do a hashtag search (eg. #archaeology'), if you then click on 'show settings' and click 'pin' on the column where all the toots with a #archaeology are shown, this will create a permanent extra column on your interface with all the toots with #archaeology on them. If you want to get rid of it, just unpin it.

Many parts of the Fediverse allow consensual adult sexual content on their server so long as it is behind a content wrapper (warning) and properly tagged. Please respect this and don't report it. The CW is there for a reason. If you don't like it, don't click it.

Hello world! 👋 We are the Library & Archive at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Founded in 1505 as the Incorporation of Surgeons & Barbers of Edinburgh, we are the oldest medical institution in continual existence in the world. And our library and archive collections are even older than we are!! 📚

Another quick PSA for the newcomers:

There is no Mastodon.

As in, there is no entity out there called Mastodon that needs to "get it together" or "make things easier."

Every server is a unique collection of hardware and software operated by a unique team of (usually) volunteer humans funded by (usually) donations.

Some days will be smoother than others. We new folks have flooded the network. Cut the volunteers some slack. Better yet, offer support.

I’ll be on BBC Radio 5 Live at 6:30ish tonight talking about what’s happening with #crypto right now - wish me luck!

Take a deep breath. Then, focusing on loving-kindness, try to visualize a symbol of it. Once you dissolve the ego, you may sleep.

I have zero idea what I am doing, but hello?... can anyone hear me...
