I now regret deleting the old Mastodon account I had over on a different server (I used it a couple of years ago to post a question to the podcast host who owns it). I had no idea what it was at the time. I thought it was just some kind of comment platform for that site.

Quick introduction! I'm a historian of empire and international relations. In the past I've worked on early 20th century stuff (see my book on the British Empire and Japan). More recently I'm a researcher and interviewer on the Dutch diplomatic oral history project (https://www.huygens.knaw.nl/en/projecten/diplomatic-witnesses/).

Like many here: recent birdcage refugee, hoping to rebuild a network of historians et al. for conversations on the history of diplomacy and international order.

The fun thing about the mastodon migration while having ADHD is that I keep seeing people on my Twitter timeline announce their mastodon @ and I dutifully follow them while having exactly zero idea who they are or why I ever followed them in the first place.

Let’s talk Banebdjedet.
The original Ram of Mendes, Banebdjedet would go on to become inspiration for the form of Baphomet. In his time, Banebdjedet was extremely popular. He was a lord of the dead and connected to kingship.
For myself, Banebdjedet comes around in my life in the fall. He lingers around Halloween and the time of Samhain. I see him as a spooky, protective, nearly terrifying black ram. He wears kingship in his Ba (soul) and carries fire in his eyes. I adore the time he comes to visit each year.

Little Mastodon tip if like me you find the content warning culture here overly annoying, you can just go into your settings and tell it to auto-show all posts and/or all sensitive posts. So you can effectively get rid of the content warnings for yourself but let everyone else still have them, which is cool.
