I started hormone therapy exactly 6 months ago, so in a way I'm like a teenage girl adapting to a whole new set of emotions and a rapidly changing body.

I've volunteered for #exercism since 2018 and currently maintain the #Clojure track.

I have a strong personal interest in #accessibility, having several unique physical and mental issues. I have permanent facial paralysis on one side and am deaf in that ear, and I lost one of my hands in a 2014 accident. They are on opposite sides, so it is particularly comical to watch me try to use a phone.

I created a 3D printed keyboard to address my condition, and have been considering marketing it to offer a low-cost solution for folks in similar compromised situations, or whoever might want to type with one hand for whatever reason: https://github.com/btowerscoding/trochee

The greatest thing about Mastodon, so far, in my short time here, is a great, calm energy of the ideas. I don't sense a lot of hatred or heat. The exchange of ideas is the point. It feels like the early days of the internet -- I've been here since 1994 -- when you found a place to make new friends and create meaningful connections. I know that early lift doesn't always last long with magnitude of distribution, but it's still good to know these moments still exist somewhere. #Mastodon #Internet

The rules for vis.social have changed to not allow any AI-generated images... but I'm literally writing an academic paper right now about AI applications to VIS (including ethical implications), and a rule like this prevents even sharing this kind of research. This seems like a pretty... abrupt and sweeping decision? @kristinHenry @darth_mall is there a place for public conversation on the server to discuss rule changes like this? #dataVis #visSocial #dataViz

After lab, this week #MonksHillLab performed last in-situ validation of our low-cost #Minion #CO2 and #ET data-logger at #patchCROP. #Minion are allready being used in projects in THE philippines, Ghana and Benin. Looking forward to firts annual flux data.
