This is my second kick at the can with #mastodon. I joined back in 2020 during the last great #twitter exodus.

Let me tell you. This time is different.

Almost immediately I found interesting people, interesting topics. A lot of good spirit going on this time around.

The code is better, the wide variety of interests too. This is like early-days Twitter, but better.

And for now at least. No troll farms.

I started my own instance. This could be our moment. Just maybe.

What I saw - Smooth pavement. Separate from traffic. Shade. Not too busy. Perfect.

What my female partner saw - Blind corners. No lighting. No escape routes. Too few users. Wouldn’t use this route.

I don’t understand why people think Mastodon is difficult. It seems pretty straightforward, and the separate servers are no biggie. I’m enjoying this fresh start here, like moving to a new apartment!

I did some more work on #DOStodon, the #Mastodon client for #MSDOS.

I added a splash screen, a busy indicator for network access, you can scroll the entries now, there is a profile viewer and you can like and boost.
Image attachments are now displayed, too.
