Haha missed the whole concept of #introduction 😅

I am Kae, 30 years of age, #american by birth; #irish by heart (I've lived here nearly 8yrs!).

Proud #catmom to 1 house panther and 1 very #longboi that just gives the world some meaning when I otherwise cannot find it

Causes dear to my heart and bits about me since they're all integral to my identity. #sexworkiswork #marijuanaismedicine #bisexual #genderqueer #neurodivergent #disabled #loveislove #CharcotMarieTooth #domesticviolence

Hey Mastodon, I'm an adult content creator who has over 500K followers on Twitter but I want to focus my attention here instead. I'm hoping Mastodon can be an inclusive place for sex workers. #nsfw #twitter #onlyfans #sexworkiswork

Word of the Day: “Twitter”

I’ve been thinking about naughty nuns again and decided to turn it into a history article. Have at it!

Why, what's up there?

That's exactly how I would respond, tbh.

(Re)introducing myself: I love #sci-fi, #politics, #news, #music, and #technology. I write #fiction and non-fiction (as my health allows) and previously worked as a teacher. I'm #disabled and closely follow health news. My politics are "left but not liberal"; I'm inclined towards #mutualism but have many #ML friends. #Introduction

@mattblaze I remember on Twitter I was extremely slow to block. I went years before I did my first block (I still remember who it was). I have resolved not to make that same mistake again anywhere else.

It’s #FollowFriday so boost this post and help God get more followers! The more people that follow Me here the more comedy people on Twitter will realize they should move to Mastodon!

This has been a difficult week. The nature of Mastodon means, though, that the other things that might have dragged my mental health down have been kept at bay. I am so pleased I came over here. I am so grateful for the people I have already engaged with. Thank you.

White people who want to engage with actual solutions: I am a fan of @schock’s work and suggestions and she makes some important interventions here: https://mastodon.lol/@schock/109383950563020172

Worth mentioning that "allow" vs "block" aren't the only two options. There are "limited" settings, where users from an instance can follow & be followed but don't show up in more public content.
https://docs.joinmastodon.org/admin/moderation/

So it is possible to imagine a set-up with an allow-list of known well-moderated sites, a block-list of known bad actors, & limited setting for new/unknown instances (maybe with new limited settings that work better for cautious discovery of new servers).

Hello world! Introducing myself on this #FollowFriday . I’m an elected official in Denver, CO metro area. I’m a community servant at heart, as well as a father, husband, business owner and social activist. At age 10, I was brutalized by police on my morning walk to school. The decades following that I studied history, civil rights, and grassroots change strategies. I realized that LOVE is the path to equity. I believe that no city, state, or nation is perfect…but democracies are LESS IMPERFECT ❤️

#introductions

i am a total shitposter, i work in #infosec for a fortune 500, and general family man.

i blue team, i love the SIEM space, love the automation space, and deal with the IR space.

don't follow me for good infosec information, my socmedia is more to blow off steam

i am a good listener, deeply atheistic #satanist, a dirtbag #socialist, gun nut who can't own guns (curious kids), and staunch #LGBTQIA+ ally.

looking for people that are cool with sharing misery, follow me if that's the case

I have been alerted to the existence of the PolyForm Small Business License (https://polyformproject.org/licenses/small-business/1.0.0/) by @jacob - I am curious if there are wider opinions on adopting a "non-free" (but anti-large-company) license for Fediverse software? I'd probably put @takahe under both the Noncommercial and Small Business to make sure academics etc. can use it.

What was the last thing a person did for / to you that made you smile?

If you have a domain: mysite.com or whatever do you need to buy anything to use it for mastodon? Do you need to buy a .social? Can you just use the .com or .net? Is that bad?

If an individual is starting a new website what hosting services are good if you want to run mastodon too?
