Re: Job hunt during holidays
Timelines for interview results may be also skewed during this time. Some candidates reached out to me wondering if they are rejected because they haven’t heard back immediately. It’s more likely that capacity during holidays slowed everything down including interviewing other candidates.
please boost and support: the science museum of minnesota has unionized and is facing an immense anti-union campaign by leadership. the museum is run by venture capitalists who are desperate to undermine the unionizing effort and public and staff perception of it. please voice your support and sign their public petition to demand better from leadership to support their workers
Lego Star Wars advent calendar day 19
A cute little AT-ST even if it looks a little awkward
At this point though I'm not sure we're getting any sequel stuff. There's only 5 days left and we already know there's still an R2 coming up because he's on the box
I'll be a little sad if there's not even one Last Jedi build in there
Xia Jia has a beautiful SF story inspired by this idea:
"A hundred ghosts parade tonight"

Spirited Away definitely incorporates the Japanese view of yokai and spirits. It is also connected to another concept known as kamikakushi, which is being spirited away. I've written a brief explanation here: https://www.curiousordinary.com/2021/07/kamikakushi.html?m=1
The Ghibli film Pom Poko has a night parade of 100 demons.
I just realised that I haven't done a proper intro for this account which I use to share mostly #JapaneseFolklore, #yokai and #JapaneseArt, especially #ukiyoe art. I also love East Asian #folklore, British folklore, Greek #mythology and anything #supernatural. I have a website with content I've shared over the years & I'm currently playing around with the idea of writing a beginner level book about #Japanese folklore. I also have a personal account @angela which I use to connect & chat.
In #JapaneseFolklore hyakki yagyo is the night parade of one hundred demons. On inauspicious nights, all the #yokai, ghosts and other supernatural creatures parade through the streets of #Japan, singing and dancing wildly. For anyone foolish enough to be outside, or even to peek out of their window, an encounter with the pandemonium of the dreaded night parade will result in death, or being spirited away by malevolent yokai.

What if we could trace #cytotoxic #Tcells throughout the human body before and during #cancer #immunotherapy?
Researchers at the University of Groningen have used a CD8-specific positron emission tomography (#PET) tracer in a phase 1/2 clinical trial. Patients with solid tumors were imaged before and ~30 days after starting treatment with #antibodies against PD-L1, PD-1, and/or CTLA-4.

My argument, at its core, is that to do that, we need to teach people why science deserves their trust – and this requires teaching how science works as a social institution. I've written about this in brief in a Science American article: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/to-fight-misinformation-we-need-to-teach-that-science-is-dynamic/

I don’t know who needs to hear this, two days before winter solstice at the end of another doozy of a year, but I did want to say that my #writing improved considerably (consistency, frequency, lack of angst) when I began seeing it as an *essential* creative outlet without which I felt terrible and stopped seeing it as a Sisphyean/Herculean piece of neverending homework I was imposing on myself. This was a conscious choice I made after a *lot* of journalling and thinking. It helps.
@selina3sticks @ColesStreetPothole Buckle up, Buttercup! #Bookstodon is the hashtag used to discuss books with the larger Fediverse and if you include the bot ATbookstodonATa.gup.pe, it will boost all your posts 📚
