It would be incredible to reach 100,000 followers of the Memorial here at Mastodon this year.

Don't you think?

merry christmas 🎄

#ChatGPT prompt: "Write a Lovecraftian love poem." The result had me crumpling in fits of laughter 🤣!

-

In the dark of night, when the moon is full
And the stars are bright in the sky above
I think of you, my dearest love
And the madness that consumes my soul.

Your eyes, like the depths of the ocean
Hold a darkness that draws me in
I am lost in their depths, forever more
Bound to you by the ties of sin.

Your touch, like the caress of death
Brings shivers to my spine
I am yours, body and mind
Bound to you until my dying breath.

In the cold embrace of the night
I long for your touch, oh so sweet
For in your arms, I am complete
And the madness that consumes me is a delight.

So come to me, my love, and take me
For I am yours, now and forever
Together, we shall face the darkness and never
Tremble in the face of the horrors that await us.

While I’ve not created any new images of this sort for some time, I did for a number of years really enjoy using records, album covers, CDs, and the occasional cassette as primary elements in scenes. In some cases, the scene was meant to complement or play off the artwork.

Translucent discs of various hues were also fun to backlight.

When I post #Music from the #Caribbean, I want people to remind themselves of something.

While our islands, countries, and territories within european powers have their problems, we are more than the sum of problems.

We have our cultures, languages, music, foods, celebrations, histories.

See the problems. See the the effects of #Imperialism, #Colonialism and #Neocolonialism, but don't forget to see the people. People who are worth celebrating.

Women complaining about men, does not necessarily mean they are complaining about me.

Transfolks complaining about cis folks, doesn't mean that they are directing their comments at me.

My role is to sit and reflect on what they say, and think about how I may or may not contribute to the issues that they are talking about. To learn when I am participating in those negative behaviours. And to recognize when my peers are engaging in those same behaviours. And to call in myself and peers.

If you are feeling lonely or left out today, the #JoinIn tag will link you to folks to talk to or to just make you feel included. You are important!

Spider (and myself) wish you all a Merry Chrimble! #academicswithcats
