Oh my goodness! I have to literally pry my phone out of my fingers to force myself to get off this app and do stuff like brush my teeth, get dressed and attend to my life. People post the most clever, funny, inspiring and real shit here. And it’s just because they want to share a little bit of themselves with others, not for followers or likes. Things just feel more real here. That is a dear and precious thing and I’m grateful for it.

Took me 90 pages to get into this, but from then on out I was gripped. Spy-fantasy ftw. Gods thought dead, former enslaved people now ruling and trying to keep the old sacred texts and artifacts secret from those descended from the masters, political unrest & the fabric of time and space warped and manipulated much to religious nuts’ benefit. Well worth a read and the penultimate book in a selection of 5 books Graham specifically chose for me.

The first is key: crows are acutely aware of human gaze. They watch you, know which direction you are looking, and use this to predict your behavior.

As you are getting to them, don't watch them or the food you've offered. Drop or place a peanut and then walk on like Lot fleeing the doomed city of Sodom, never looking back. This reassures them that it's not a trap and that you don't mean them harm.

Later, when they have become more comfortable with you, you can interact more directly.

Many police have phone imaging kits in their cars now and easily download all your data. If you don't think they will scan it "just in case", you're just wrong. I have lobbied against these laws in my state and am trying to get privacy legislation sponsored.
