@superswift@twitter.com Reminder: the company is named Weylan-Yutani (without D) in Alien (1979), and it was a winged logo (designed by Ron Cobb). Winged logo we saw again in Covenant (2017).

James Cameron added the "D" for Aliens (1986) and the well-know logo.

Weyland Corp logo is from Prometheus.

In my work Slack someone just posted an article about The Katz Tapes, a huge collection of unedited musician interviews by Boston-based journalist Larry Katz recorded between 1980 and 2007, now housed at Northeastern University. Over 1,000 tapes! At a glance I see James Brown, David Bowie, Ornette Coleman, Irma Thomas, Brian Wilson, Miles Davis, Bob Marley, Hal Blaine ... WOW!

Just thinking about how we had dozens of ideas for Twitterrific over the years that we didn't even try because we were worried they'd probably violate the Twitter TOS somehow and they'd ban us.

Instead, Twitter arbitrarily changed or redefined some rule that has yet to be identified (and might not even be published) and banned us anyway out of the blue.

They've still not said a word and I don't expect they ever will.

I'm only a few followers away from my first 1000 followers on #Mastodon! 😯

Should I do something fun to celebrate once I do? Anyone got a wish?

So to try to pull myself out of a sad moment this evening, I'm going to share what is probably my favorite tree photo that I've taken! 🌳

I'm even gonna tag #SilentSunday early because I can't always follow rules! I live on the edge (of the intersection of Boring and HoHum😆).

(Also, humblebrag, Henry Winkler told me this pic was beautiful on the birdsite last year, which was just so wonderful💘.)

Periodic reminder that "queer is a slur" is TERF discourse, and the project of reclaiming the word "queer" was active back in the 1980s and 1990s, when I was a baby queer.

I submit as exhibit A this 1993 WIRED article mentioning Digital Queers:

There's an interesting new paper in the journal Ecological Economics. The title is:

"Assessing U.S. consumers' carbon footprints reveals outsized impact of the top 1%"

This is from the abstract --

Unsustainable environmental degradation and extreme economic inequality are two of humanity's most pressing challenges. They are intimately linked. Climate-altering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are disproportionately driven by consumption among wealthy and socially privileged groups, yet poorer and socially marginalized peoples face disproportionate climate harms.

What really grabbed me, however, was the chart below, created by Andrew Fanning using data contained in the paper. It clearly illustrates the massive scale of carbon inequality in our modern society.
