As climate collapse triggers more mass migrations and refugees, there must be impact on youth serving systems (e.g., foster care, schools). Anyone writing on this? Or anyone have good recommendations on things to read specific to youth systems and climate? https://www.npr.org/2023/02/28/1160169508/one-uprooted-life-at-a-time-climate-change-drives-an-american-migration #ClimateChange #ClimateCrisis #ClimateEmergency #law

Meet the woman behind early @NASA_Landsat images: Dr. Valerie L. Thomas.
A self-taught programmer, she managed the development of Landsat image processing. Her work in the '70s helped show that satellite imagery could be used to support agriculture. https://go.nasa.gov/3EJMPgT #BHM

as the most recent LastPass hack reminded everyone, passwords can be phished, and an attacker who has otherwise compromised your computer can steal whatever credentials the computer itself has access to. if your computer gets compromised you are definitely in deep shit no matter what, and there are still plenty of ways for an attacker in that position to do bad stuff, but at least separating out the credentials so they can't be copied will make it easier to recover.
A French train coming from Lyon arrived 3 hours late, at 1:40AM, in Geneva on Sunday night.
Having missed all connections, a train driver of the Swiss rail company, asked all 80 stranded passengers where they needed to go, took an unused train, specifying that at that time during the night it was easy, and dropped them off at various stations across Lake Leman. Like a taxi, but on rails.
It's not for nothing that people love the Swiss railways 🇨🇭🚞

Frustrated this morning by the polarization of AI discussions into (1) people pumping the hype, and talking as though AIs will be able to do everything humans do by next Thursday, and (2) people dismissing everything AI can actually do by puffing out their lips and laughing and saying "computers can't do X; they just can't" using a purely inchoate intuitive definition of X.

A consciousness somehow associated with matter.
Posting about culture, philosophy, politics, AI Art Tools, NaNoWriMo, Software Development occasionally, the relationship of consciousness to matter.
