Gotta give posthumous flowers to Jerry Lawson, the man who created the first video game console w/interchangeable cartridges.
It was a watershed moment for gaming. As this USA Today article notes, it was "the foundation for today's global video game market."
In his honor, there's a Lawson exhibit on permanent display at The World Video Game Hall of Fame at The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, NY
If you're in right wing controlled state like Texas, you might want download a copy of the Tor browser now.
It's frequently used to get around network blocks by repressive regimes. (And can also make it harder for advertisers to track you if you happen to live in a less repressive regime)
As example the BBC produced a tor hidden service version of their site to provide BBC news in Ukrainian & Russian. Tor can view regular webs sites, but I think the hidden sites perform a bit better.

Ideally one would live in a free country not ruled by a repressive state, but apparently we don't get to have nice things like that without quite a lot more political organizing and resistance.
Hi, I work with generative machines. Everything from Markov chain generators to GPT-3. I’ve trained and tuned many models with GPT2 and 3, all with the intent of simulating human interaction.
I know a fair bit about generative machines, both how they work, and how to tune and interact with them to get particular results.
I need you to hear this: they do now know or understand anything. They are complex probability tables.

The peak prices in crypto weren’t driven by FOMO. The reason shitcoins & JPEGs were selling for millions was because it was all pumped up by stolen funds.
Even degen gamblers aren’t that foolish with money.

Sometimes you happen upon something in your research that just begs to be asked about in AI -- and here is the answer to my inquiry about "jade burial suits."

I’m a co-author on a new paper out in The Lancet - part of the Lancet Commission’s ongoing work.
It traces the evolving dynamics of the anti-vaccine movement from the “Jenny McCarthy crunchy left” that many remember, to a networked activism movement with strong ties to right-wing identity. It describes the increasing tactical reliance on online harassment as well.

@david It's something I will always remember happily about an otherwise dark time. Dad had not taught in 30 years when he died, and Mom and I still encountered people at every turn who would tell us he had made a difference in their lives. Something teachers may not feel every day but there are students out there who were impacted positively. Hopefully some of them know it before the end.

This guy is so dangerous and so gross. I know we know this but the horror of him even running again, let alone winning, is so great, I can’t leave it unremarked. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/live/2023/mar/04/donald-trump-cpac-2023-bolsonaro-republicans-us-politics-live
