The US has gone from the envy of the world in healthcare to #61 and #51 in life expectancy during my career. Something has gone terribly wrong.

Threads is looking better and better. What I wanted from social media was:

* self-promotion from celebrities and rich people

* no control over my timeline

* strict prohibition of any sexual content

* nothing from europe

* no alt-text

* data harvesting to empower genocides

Some great news from The Center For Deep Listening at Rensselaer.

The "A Year of Deep Listening" project in homage to Pauline Oliveros they ran up until the end of May this year will eventually be collected in a book, to be published in Fall 2024 on Terra Nova Press.

Honoured and chuffed to have been part of this, and to see the whole project finally collected.

Asked both sets to Boost/Repost/Like/Favourite and comment.

Almost ZERO engagement/reach on Threads and massive reach on Mastodon.

I suspected Mastodon would easily win but not by this much.

Breaking: An attorney representing Twitter has accused Meta of unlawfully using Twitter’s trade secrets in developing its Threads app.

The court filing from Twitter’s legal team comprised three poop emojis, an angry face, and 1.3 TB of text beginning “As an AI language model…”

Threads doesn't initially support ActivityPub open standard, and is not open source. Adding ActivityPub support doesn't preclude withdrawal later.
