Nobody Ever Read American Literature Like This Guy Did

Inflamed, impertinent and deeply insightful, D.H. Lawrence’s “Studies in Classic American Literature” remains startlingly relevant 100 years after it was originally published.

linux debian fde failing

So tried setting up full disk encryption on debian 12/woodworm with yubikey.

found one manual which looked hopeful ,but uses an initramfs generator which I don't know and can't get to generate working initramfs images.

classic initramfs-tools don't support yubikey...

So doesn't look like this doable yet, tips welcome.

Lovely walk yesterday. Found lots of awesome moss, found a dragon stone and a library with old books in an inn that served mostly vegetarian.

Booksellers in Paris have hit out at plans to “hide” them during the 2024 Olympics, after they were told by local authorities to remove their stalls for the opening ceremony for security reasons.

The bouquinistes along the River Seine make up the largest open-air book market in Europe and represent a 400-year-old tradition.

I am basically sitting back and popping popcorn pre-emptively because I predict this thread on Ask is gonna be super fun:

"What would the positive and negative impact be of going back to horses as our primary mode of transport instead of fossil fuel powered cars? I've been rolling this around in my head recently..."

🧿 Worldcoin isn’t as bad as it sounds: It’s worse
—blockworks.co

「 Worldcoin will need to assemble a vast database of iris data. But not everyone is eager to gaze into an Orb. In the bootstrapping phase, at least, you had to pay people to scan their eyes. And so Worldcoin turned to the global south — home to the cheapest eyeballs — and played a dark game of ‘what will people do for money?’ 」

New Ghibli film draws early morning crowds despite little promotion

Studio Ghibli fans flocked to theaters Friday on the opening day of what is speculated to be Japanese anime master Hayao Miyazaki’s final film.

Without any promotion ahead of the release, fans were equipped with just two clues — the film’s title, “Kimitachi wa Do Ikiru Ka?” and a simple movie poster portraying a bird — as they showed up at a Toho Cinemas theater in the Kabukicho district of Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward bright and early for one of Japan’s first screenings. The title translates to “How Do You Live?” [Since this story's publication, the film has officially been titled in English as "The Boy and the Heron."]
