Here is a reminder to everyone [rightly] pissed at the incredibly high cost of peer-reviewed journal articles behind paywalls:

If you send an email to the lead/corresponding author (whose contact is almost always provided in the article, or easily found with google) and ask for a copy of the article, the author will almost universally be delighted to send a copy [legally] to you, free.

We authors LOVE it when someone asks for a copy of our articles!!!

Don't believe the doomers claiming RSS is dead.

RSS lives.

This Fleur-de-lis-shaped Book of Hours was made in Paris in 1553 AD. It is an illuminated manuscript on paper, written in Latin. The book was originally made for King Henri II and Diane de Poitiers, and sold for 28,000 at Christie's in 2006.

Only one more book of this format is recorded and this is kept in the Bibliotheque Municipale of Amiens, France.

hi, I own a small law firm (it's me) that focuses on defending people accused of intellectual property infringement related to the sale of products (primarily online).

I track and post about new design law cases (design patents, copyright, trademarks) usually related to consumer products. I am particularly interested in the right to resell and repair products.

In another life I was a Wall Street defense lawyer but I like posting from the woods of NH better.

When it comes to hacking everyone has ideas about how AI might enable or prevent attacks in the coming years but the details as to *how* are a lot vaguer than the numerous predictions themselves.

It is OK for kids to feel bored. In fact, boredom can help children to develop a number of important skills.

@dangillmor shouldn’t the “Privelages and Immunities Clause” of the Constitution allowing freedom of travel? Supported by Saenz v Roe with the first of three protected aspects being the right to enter one state and leave another (as an inherent right supported from Articles of the Constitution).

I am not an attorney, but the desperation of these states to turn women into chattel is repulsive and I’m hopeful that we can get rid of the limitations once and for all.

Congressional Republicans have now repeatedly admitted that they have accomplished nothing of consequence since taking control of the House in 2023.

This won't matter unless Democrats make it matter though.
