a few things you can do to make your content accessible:
- use image descriptions
- when you post videos, make sure they're captioned and/or add a transcript. transcript is really the only accessible option for deafblind folks
- when you link a podcast, do also link to the transcript
- don't put more than 2-3 emoji in your username (incredibly annoying for screenreader users)
- use CW's where appropriate. make sure they actually describe what the content is about!

> Miss the 65K reach of my old bird account
Give it time ;) Anyway the reach on platforms like Titter is mostly illusory, since The Algorithms decide if and when any of the people following your account actually see any of your posts. Here, you can get much greater reach beyond those following your account by using hashtags, which are actively used here as a way of searching for relevant posts of people to follow.
I'm proud to announce that we at the Newmark Journaism School's Tow-Knight Center provided initial funding for the journa.host Mastodon instance that @adamdavidson and a team of volunteers are running and moderating for journalists.

Leave Twitter just because it keeps failing at random in completely unpredictable ways, the decision-making process is utterly opaque resisting any rational explanation, and it's occasionally deeply racist for no obvious reason?
My dude, I work in machine learning.
In #solidarity with the part-time faculty union striking at The New School for a fair contract, I am withholding my labor as a non-union full-time faculty member by suspending my classes and not crossing the #DigitalPicketLine which means no Canvas, Zoom, Google apps, etc.
Maybe you saw the news today that a Twitter engineer got fired by Elon, over Twitter.
I talked to him.
Hours have gone by and he's still had no messaging from the company.
He doesn't even know where to send his company laptop.

By way of #introduction (or is it #introductions ?) (Waving at everybody) Hi all! I’m a novelist and screenwriter who’s been doing this work for 40+ years, mostly in science fiction and fantasy. I'm seriously into #cooking and #digitalart, and can't seem to stop overusing emojis. :) Check the links in my bio for (possibly) too much more information. ...Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to hanging out with all of you! :)
I'm writing a character and I needed them to be reading a German language book. So I researched/randomly chose a book from the 1840s. Then, idly looking through that book, I discovered that what happens to the character in the 1840 book is exactly what happens to my character.

Bird site, quote tweets
When I think about it, the absence of a quote toot function on #mastodon is a stroke of genius.
When #Twitter hits you with that visceral anger, it's almost always because the QT function has dumped something you vehemently disagree with into your timeline.
Even something you may even be willing to listen to, when distilled down to 280 characters, is apt to induce a context-free rage.
Fellow #GameDev masto folks. I'm declaring today #WishlistWednesday (despite my lack of power and authority)
Post a link to your game with the hashtag. Let's all boost and wishlist each others games. Maybe it will make a difference?
Happy #wishlistwednesday!!! 🎉
I'm going to try and attempt at hosting on Mastadon! 🥰
So, without further ado, show me your #indiegames! I want to see everything! 👾
The coolest thing I’ve learned about books this year is that genres don’t stop at fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, etc.
There are layers and layers of sub genres to fit so many niche interests. I feel like more people would read if they had the words to describe the genres they like.

Good morning, hackers! Here's a tiny lil project I tossed together a while back based on Brian Eno's "Oblique Strategies."
Choose Red or Blue, and receive oblique inspiration to get you unstuck!
A consciousness somehow associated with matter.
Posting about culture, philosophy, politics, AI Art Tools, NaNoWriMo, Software Development occasionally, the relationship of consciousness to matter.

If your profile tells me nothing about you, it's less likely I'll follow you (back).
