This reminds me of the old Internet and its ways. The USENET news server days, even, when news servers were suddenly inundated with new users and abusers. But the main difference is that you can silence the spammers and the abusers here based on community standards, and you can run them off to their own server which you will never accept federation from.

Wanderers, writers, editors: I'd love thoughts about submitting to magazines/journals vs to anthologies.

I plan to collect my solarpunk stories (set in different times of the same future) into a volume, perhaps novella. Wondering if I should be cautious about subbing to anthologies with long lead times if that is my aim?

Would there tend to be other differences in whether some of the stories were first published in magazines or anthologies?

#ThoseWhoCreateAndDestroy has turned out to be an ode to, among other things, the aughts. Kinda weird when you've been working on a thing for so long it's turned into historical fiction 😅

It's especially wild looking back on how different it was to be queer then... e.g. "they" as a personal pronoun apparently made its first known modern appearance in a 2008 tweet.

Today, protagonist Jules would absolutely be a they/he.

I don't know if anyone else gets anxious about phone calls but a little tip I've learned is: if there is a phone call that I don't want to make, before I start dialing the number, I carefully hold the phone in my hand & toss it gently into a lake. I hope this advice helps others.
